"Today, I again seek to act for the good of our community,"
"It is increasingly clear that pressure is mounting on many of my supporters to shift their support. Consequently, I hereby release those individuals who have endorsed and supported my campaign to transfer their support as they see fit to do so. I am and have always been a proud Republican. It is my hope that with my actions today, my party will emerge stronger and our district and our nation can take an important step towards restoring the enduring strength and economic prosperity that has defined us for generations."
This could end up hurting Hoffman’s election chances if her supporters go to Owens
I’m hoping that the Hoffman supporters will take over the Republican Party in upstate NY. This is their big chance.
When I lived there and had vacation property in Long Lake, I can remember the upset folks who hated the APA (Adirondack Park Agency) for coming up w/ all their elitist rules. There wasn’t going to anything such as “Freedom” in the Adirondacks once the libs of the APA got their way.
This could be huge. Hoffman wins and reorganizes the Republican Party from the grass-roots on up. No RINOs need apply should be their slogan.
I for one, am THRILLED to see him go.
Great post, Free Reign.
Her supporters wil likely go to Owens, only a shade less liberal than Scuzzy
I’d rather that she stayed in, with Hoffman beating THEM BOTH.
But, I’ll settle for this.
This is why I love FR.
Excellent ideas/opinions.
I think you nailed it - however, this will certainly translate into a Doug Hoffman victory when there is no split now for the Republican voters to choose from.
There is always spinning - but everyone realizes how important this victory is for the Anti-Rino Conservatives and almost as importantly a referendum on the boy-wonder president.
Yeah, Newt can be all that, as in this case. And it really bit him.
She is worse then a RINO as several times she threatened to switch to being a Dem. This is too funny!
Knew the Pataki endorsement was major and now she drops out of the race. Steele and Newt were with her to the end as Sessions/NRCC backed off their support this week as well.
With the state of our country, I have little patience with uninformed vanilla Republicans who will vote for anything with an R behind their name.
There's simply NO excuse to be uninformed in this day and age, and with so much on the line.
I was once like that myself, so there's my mea culpa, but times have changed, the world has changed, and I've changed. Now, the conservative, patriotic base in America has changed. For the first time in my life, I'm seeing the patriotic right get off their duffs and become activists.
I acknowledge that there are some Republicans who are oblivious to the enormous and historic forces at work in America at this time. It's my hope that those of us who are better informed and engaged will help pull them up.
the only thing hoffman achieved is a lingering bitterness and split in the republican party.
He did this because he finished last in the nominating process and then decided to go back on his word to support the republican nominee and go third party.
The next time a conservative wins via the rules, look out for the moderates to bolt next time.
If you think it won’t happen, think John Anderson in 1980, Ross Perot in 1992 and 1996.
Bingo! This is exactly what was needed and gives a shot in the arm to Conservative Republicans in places like NY. Hoffman may have been a 3rd Party candidate but in reality he was a Conservative REPUBLICAN running because the GOP candidate received her nomination under suspicious circumstances.
The NY Conservative Party would have endorsed any of the GOP candidates except her. They are not the traditional 3rd Party but are there for cases like this as they usually endorse the Republican. They formed as they had no say in the GOP heirarchy in NY. It paid off big time now. They need to stay separate and do what they have been doing because it will make the Republican candidates in NY not be the hard core leftist that this woman was.
“How ‘bout applause for us? We did this, not her, or her RINO masters in the Republican party.”
Amen. You sure got that right. WE DIDDIT!!!
AND what’s more, we can do it again!
Uncle Newt is on live on Monica Crowley’s show and he seemed to not know what happened this morning in NY-23. He was still backing Scozz.
Here is some information that may cheer you up a bit.
According to this mornings Siena poll, her support among democrats had fallen from 26% on 10/1, to 11% on 10/31.
Owens support among democrats had risen from 48% on 10/1 to 66% on 10/31.
Hoffmann’s support among democrats had risen from 6% on 10/1 to 14% on 10/31.
Two ideas:
1. Libs have already abandoned her and gone to Owens.
2. Can the 8% (of dems) who left Dede for Doug be described as (dare I say) “Reagan Democrats” ? And what would that say about where the 11% who still supported her will go? How many Reagan Democrats are in that group?
(This information can be found in the press release accompanied the poll)
Your absolutely right , we did this!!!! Calls, donations, standing up against the RINOS!!!!
but let’s give her credit for at least backing down, albeit she KNOWS she is cooked!
The problem is that the NY State County Chairs did not do the proper vetting and in fact, put her on the ballot under suspicious circumstances. This should have never been a problem. When the Conservative Party told them they would support every candidate but her, she should have been taken off by the local people not touted.
RNC is supposed to be able to rely on their State Chairs for guidance but in this case the NY State GOP Chair looks to be on the deal.
Hoffman endorsed her initially until they discovered how bad she was so the fault lies with the NY GOP and the County Chairs in this Congressional District that let it happen.
The pissed off patriot's version of the Obot's phrase:
"Damn Straight, We Can!"
Monica Crowley’s show on Saturdays must be pre-recorded the day before because it is never current with the news.
Newt = "Mr. Irrelevant"!
CAN YOU HEAR US NOW?!!!!!!!!!
