Group Calls on Gingrich to Rescind Endorsement of Scozzafava
Christian Newswire ^ | Oct. 30, 2009 | Catholic Families for America

CFA Executive Director: "While I admire Newt's intelligence and respect him as a fellow Catholic, his crass, political calculation in endorsing such a pro-abortion candidate sends an unfortunate signal that party loyalty is more important than morality. Newt needs to examine his conscience for so publicly flouting the Church's doctrine on abortion and gay marriage."

here’s a joke for you

Near Fredericksburg, Texas, where there is a large German-speaking population, a farmer walking down a country road notices a man drinking from his pond with his hand.

The farmer shouted: ‘Trink das wasser nicht. Die kuhen haben dahin gesheissen.’

(Which means: ‘Don’t drink the water, the cows have s*** in it.’)

The man shouted back: ‘I’m from New York and just down here campaigning for Obama’s health care plan, I can’t understand you. Please speak in English.’

The farmer replied: ‘Use two hands, you’ll get more.’

Tell Ma to vote for Baker, Tim is a good guy but the only thing he’s going to do is put Coup Duval back in the state house. Can you also tell Ma to invite Christie over and flush him down the toilet, he is a bad penny that won’t go away.

Ah yes, the “Massachusetts Brain Defect”. Fortunately I never had it! I take after my mother's side of the gene pool in that regard.

My sister, OTOH, has had the “Defect” show up in resent years. Coincidentally, this gene became active at the same time she became a public school teacher.

Hmmmmm........ :)

Baker sucks. He is/was up to his eyeballs in in the MA Healthcare fiasco.

He has also donated large dollars to pro-illegal alien groups. Mihos sucks too. No thanks, I’ll keep Deval then.

Cahill’s the only candidate worth voting for.

Gingrich is supporting a pro-abortion candidate.

Thus, Gingrich is a RINO. Or, more accurately, a CINO (Conservative In Name Only).

That’s hilarious!!!!!

I made a small change to it (Lancaster, PA instead of Texas) and sent it out to all my friends here in PA Dutch country!

I’m going to use that one tomorrow at the Lebanon VA bingo game! I bet the old vets will think it’s as funny as I do!

Them too.

But Pastors have a special responsibility. They damn well KNOW who the baby-killer candidate is and who isn’t. And if they don’t they should.

And they have a perfect means of counteracting whatever the media spews, every Sunday.

Once again it comes down to lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way.

The real problem is that pastors are afraid to speak out against abortion because the left has successfully made it a political issue. If pastors are perceived as endorsing candidates as a result, well, they'll lose their tax-exempt status and the IRS will come down on them.

Sad I know, but that's the way it is...

In Newt's defense, since he CHOSE to become a Catholic, at least we know his moral positions (as far as I know) still fall in line with basic Catholic orthodoxy.

We really don't know that at all. He converted for his wife not necessarily because of his beliefs. If mama's holding out he might do anything.

They either serve Mammon, or they serve God. Easy choice for me...practice what they preach.

You’re either a Christian - or not. You’re an American...or you’re a liberal.

Pretty clear, bright line as I see it.

This is no time for cowardice. We’re at war. Or more to the point, the Left is at war with us. About time our so-called “leaders” woke up and realized it.

My statement “You’re either....” etc is not aimed at you, craw. Was a general statement. Just for clarity...

The statement was clear to me, no explanation needed. And yes I agree, you're either a follower of Christ, or not (kind of like the pregnancy analogy.) ;-)

Smack! Time to turn the liberal cheek, Newt! Your sins found you out!

Numbers 32:23
“But if you will not do so, behold, you have sinned against the LORD, and be sure your sin will find you out.

Oh please, give me a break. Newt has been off the conservative reservation for years and it’s about time he’s called out for it.

Newt is a politician and nothing more. As a politician he will support his party and those associated with it regardless of their position on issues, actions or alignments. Ergo his endorsement for Scozzafava.

This is hardly the first time Newt has made a political move that has is a direct slap in the face of the parties base and conservative values, nor will it be the last.

What Newt along with those who currently hold leadership positions in the GOP still fail to grasp is that moving to a moderate position does not win elections. Pushing out, criticizing and disparaging the parties conservative base does not win elections either.

The constant practice of pushing RINO candidates onto the electorate and expecting to win has given us our current group of pathetic elected officials and directly contributed to an Obama presidency.

The GOP, and this includes Newt, have two choices, they can continue to push RINO candidates down our throats or they can get inline with the conservative base. What they can not do is continue the same-ole same-ole and expect conservative voters or candidates to stick with the party.

In a fight for our country, conservatives do not trust RINO’s to do the right thing - a fact Newt should realize if he is indeed the smart man so many claim him to be.

From his blind acceptance global warming and aligning himself with someone of the likes of Pelosi was the final straw for many of us.

His endorsement of Scozzafava isn’t surprising, it’s a continuation of Newt and the GOP leadership bone-headed belief that a “moderate” GOP is a winning party. Losing election cycle after losing cycle be damned, the parties base deserting them at

Good point. It’s worth remembering that when Newt was Speaker of the House, he restricted the growth of government spending (”slashed spending” according to the MSM), setting the government on the path to a surplus.

Newt is not as conservative as I would like. But he is not a Republican in name only. If he is a RINO, then maybe about 80% of Republicans are RINOs.

The next step would be for Republicans to call on Scozzafava to drop out of the race. (I assume that would help Hoffman.)

Gingrich is not just toast to me, he is completely burnt toast.

And, after this fiasco, he is, merely, the crumbs of that burnt toast. Paging! Clean up in the Rino aisle!
