the solution is to find a mechanism that allows them to live here legally. “Can we get a fair program where people stand at the back of the line, they pay a fine, they do some things that would ultimately allow a path to legalization?” she asked.

There IS a mechanism to allow them to live here legally. SEND THEM HOME, AND LET THEM APPLY FOR A VISA, LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. How effing difficult is that to understand?

Whitman also urged tougher measures against those who hire undocumented workers, and said that as governor “I would be an advocate . . . for the people of California to make sure we really do secure this border.”

I am in favor of any sanctions against employers who hire illegals up to and including putting them out of business entirely, even major multi-national corporations. I've had enough of coddling law breakers, both the employer and the employee.

We don’t have to go searching for illegal aliens in order to deport them. Cut illegal aliens off from all jobs through the use of E-Verify and extremely tough sanctions against employers who knowingly hire illegal aliens. Also cut illegal aliens off from ALL social service programs except those mandated by law such as K-12 public education and hospital emergency care. Without the prospects of a job, and without any taxpayer funded freebies to support them, many illegal aliens would begin to self-deport. The remaining numbers of illegal aliens will be steadily reduced as they are arrested and processed at local jails for violating laws not related to being in this country illegally. After their illegal status is determined at the jail, they would then be turned over to ICE for deportation. And we need to secure our borders to prevent more illegal aliens from sneaking in.

Your reply is one of the more realistic ones
and should be followed.
I too would like to see the freebies shut off.
When former San Diego mayor Pete Wilson when Gov.
pushed prop. 187 to do just that, it didn’t fly and the Mexicans were in the streets protesting in the State.

I think many on FR would be surprised who support a path to legalization. Sarah Palin is one.

Based on her radio ads, I don’t like her. Her tone is patronizing. She’s just another clueless elitist.

Next!

“Mass immigration of poor people in an already bankrupted states and country”

Do not disagree in the least. My point is that with all the RINO tags being thrown out on this thread, there are many politicians that people consider conservative that advocate the same thing.

In other words, let's hang out a welcome sign for the US to be the world's flophouse. Sovereignty means nothing if you don't exercise it. But for Meg Whitman, let's us give up enforcing our laws because there are too many of them already here.

We need to have a bigger quota for Latin Americans

Disagree. And amnesty in any form is hogwash, as in no matter how many layers of lipstick, it is still a PIG. I live in California, have all of my life, and the Mexicans-Guatemalans-Salvadorans-Nicaraguans are pulling us down to 3rd world level... that includes corruption and crime, not to mention they have bankrupted the state. NO THANK YOU.

We already have a path to legalization. People are sworn in as new Americans all the time.

It appears Poizner is the only viable candidate at this point...that is, if you have even modest conservative leanings.

He's as good as we'll be able to get.

Not to be a naysayer, but Meg my dear, we already have that. It's called "applying for citizenship," and Google has scads of results that would take even a low-functioning reader to helpful sites.

“...Whitman said agents told her they had enough people in the sector but wanted more technology, such as infrared cameras, to do their job.”

Cameras hell, .308 WIN will do the job.

is smarter than this.

In Calif, in the 70’s, the number of illegals was referred to as 20 million.

There is absolutely no way the number TODAY could be 12.5 million. IMO, it is much closer to 50 million, with the continuing influx of illegal traffic, and their birth rates.

We are being lied to again.
