How long will the citizens of this country put up with this micromanaged tyranny? They don’t give a damn about the “health effects” (think the ‘death panels’ are indication they give a damn?)...only how much they can suck out of your pocket and how hard they can slap you around.

“....The crackdown, aimed at protecting public health from....._______________ (fill in blank with anything)”

This will be the basis for total control of our lives if their Health Care passes...

No more fatty foods, costs the health care system too much.

No more high school football-too many injuries

No more _____________________ use your imagination.

Think it cant happen? Look at some of the things they have publically stated in other areas.

This is the most radical group ever...

In England, in the olde days, on a cold night they would just go to the the woodpile, get a faggot, and throw it on the fire...maybe San Francisco has concerns...

These anti-everything druids want it both ways - burning wood is supposed to be “carbon neutral”.

one neighbor's smoke can end up causing another neighbor's visit to the hospital. Smoke can trigger an asthma or heart attack,"

I look forward to him producing the supporting clinical studies of populations that has gone to the hospital because of smoke from other people's chimneys.

That is, assuming there even are such population. Personally, I am very skeptical.

I was a bit surprised they still allowed fireplaces at all.
How did that freedom still manage to survive in SF?

I have yet to turn on my heat here in the NE, my woodburner is all I use until it gets below freezing.

Nothing smells better than smoke from a woodburner with some cheery wood in it.

During the cold weather season beginning Sunday and lasting through Feb. 28, the air district will announce at 2 p.m. when the predicted air quality is bad enough to institute a ban starting at midnight and lasting for 24 hours.

So, as I read it, on a bad air night, you can burn until the ban goes into effect at midnight. And you are still banned till midnight of the foloowing day, even if that is a good air night?

I guess if you are a S.F. lib, this may make sense, but not to this southern conservative.

"Wood smoke is a public health threat."

Just wood smoke? I wonder if they've ever been in Beijing at noon and 6 pm when all of the cooking oil and woks are fired up. Will they try to ban that as well on "dirty-air" nights with all of the Asians in CA?

Can anyone find out where Mark Ross, a Martinez city council member, got his Medical Degree?

I think we all should know.

I remember 1970s oil schocks caused a lot of people to install wood burning stoves. These were the crunchy people who would subscribe to Mother Earth News. Unbeknownst to these people, wood stoves produce smoke. A goodly number of New England villages had to outlaw the stoves because their towns air was blue and, well, smokey. I find it amusing that the original Mother Earth News types are now running things as well as they did in the 1970s.
