For the third year in a row, residents and visitors have voted Philadelphia the city with the least attractive people, according to a survey by Travel + Leisure.
But that's not all; the City of Brotherly Love also ranked as the least stylish, least active, least friendly and least worldy by 60,000 respondents who ranked 30 cities in several categories ranging from food to nightlife to culture. On the bright side, the beauty of the museums and art galleries was enough to boost Philly to the third spot in the Historical Sites/Monuments category.

Philli fans are horrendous. I have watched the crowd when members of rival teams are injured or hit, fans are cheering, laughing..they remind me of drunken romans. I would never cheer on any team from Philli, because their fans are such ugly people.
Helen Thomas is waiting to be made Grand Marshall of the parade....
I agree. It’s one of my favorite cities. The people are so rude they’re funny. Great restaurants, wonderful history, excellent entertainment, and fine museums. Four stars.
From the moment foot hit pavement, I despised Boston. Exception for the Museum of Science. That was fun.
I would have guessed Capitol Hill.
Having lived in San Antonio for 3 years, I agree with the low ranking. Coyote Ugly downtown was more like Mammoth Ugly. Austin and Dallas, though, thumbs up!
I went to New Orleans once in college. Didn’t like it at all. Felt much less safe than I did in NYC.
Rendell is actually a very personable individual. He also helped Philly come back financially when he was mayor. While he’s basically a good manager, I don’t think he’s made a good or ethical governor.
Really? My husband and I went to Boston several years ago and fell in love with the city. We mourned the fact that we couldn’t afford a second home. We’d like to spend part of our time there. It surprised us because we aren’t city people.
I visited Boston last week and loved it! Got to spend the whole day walking around seeing the historical sights. It was great to see some of the great places from our country’s past. Too bad the people there have forgotten why Boston was important.
We did get a cab driver though who had an anti-Obama bumper sticker on his dash. He was an immigrant from Ukraine, loved America, and said that if he wanted to live with socialism, he would have stayed home!
Anyone visiting Wildwood, NJ in the summer has always known this to be true. Taking a large number of people from Philly, and then stuffing them into bathing suits at the beach, is truly something to behold. You won't want lunch.
Cumawn, Phillypeople are OK, I seen Rocky too-tree times sos I reely know.
You Glee!
True story:
I was with a group of friends walking down the street in Philly. As we were walking I started noticing the sound of walking on fall leaves. I looked down and we were walking over a swarm of cock roaches coming up out of the sewer.
The same night I had a guy try to pick my pocket and when I stopped him, he started doing fake kung fu moves screaming “I have AIDS, I have AIDS.” Before we got home, we had to circle around a psych swinging a baseball bat and talking to himself.
That was my first night in Philly.
So go see the mewseens, shut da f up, drop some munny and go home, gotdat?
Now, Just in time for the Holidays, The Philly Xmas Greeting for people you don't really like:
(1)Grasp the other guy's right hand in both of yours
(2)Look him in squarely in the eye
(3)Say, "Yo, If'n I doan getta seeyouse before Krismiss, why doan you and ya whole fambly go.....yuhselfs." (..... = "go jump in the lake")
That was an awesome pitching performance last night. And really it was for both starters. After years of watching good Baltimore pitching (old time O’s), I really enjoyed watching this game, and since I don’t have a dog in the hunt, it really didn’t matter who won when the score was 1-0. Lee made Alex look silly up there.
When Lee started off striking out Jeter after the Phillies had run up the pitch count in the top half of the inning, I said to myself, “This is going to be a good night.”
The only flaw was the 9th inning error that allowed an unearned run to score. Players on the field have to know how fast the runners are. There was plenty of time to get the out at first. Rushing a throw off the wrong foot was minor league ball.
The game also exposed a weak NY bullpen.
One of the things we really enjoy is that it's located within easy distance of the beach, mountains, forests, farmland and city, and is generally out of the path of catastrophic events. Tornadoes are infrequent and small, hurricanes are generally very downgraded (though still somewhat damaging), and earthquakes so small as to be overlooked. Ice storms are perhaps the worst of our natural hazards. For those advantages, I can put up with some provincial attitude and lack of fashion consciousness.
I used to live in Old City and really enjoyed it. I wouldn't choose to raise kids in the city, and the high taxes and insurance costs would probably discourage me from living there now in any case. However, the suburbs are very nice. (Now if we could just do something about the guilt-ridden liberal voters . . . )
Now don’t go and try to steal their fun from them. It’s going on all over the place. You have folks hijacking baseball threads regarding riots, etc. There are Philly/Phillies bashers all over FR. Just roll with it. If you know different/better, then accept that as your satisfaction.
Wherever we live, we know different than those who post from their easy chairs in some other state and have never lived, let alone visited the place(s) they’re casting aspersions at.
As for me, I visited Philly a couple of times in the ‘80’s and found that there were quite a few attractive women there. Used to troll the Rehobeth and Ocean City beaches for them during the summer as well. Ahh, good times.
Regards,
SZ
Those in LA don't give a s**t what the survey says.
