Is the recession over?

The U.S. economy expanded in the third quarter for the first time in more than a year thanks to a bounce back in consumer spending, but a weak labor market is expected to keep the recovery subdued.

Gross domestic product rose by a higher-than-expected seasonally adjusted 3.5% annual rate July through September, the Commerce Department said Thursday in its first estimate of third-quarter GDP.

Every once in a while, there is a glimmer of positive news.

October 07, 2009 Sub-Zero/Wolf, a manufacturer of high-end kitchen appliances, has called back 165 workers who had been laid off earllier this year from the company's Fitchburg (Wisconsin) plant, and 40 workers in Phoenix, because of an upturn in the company's business. In addition, the company will hire 60 people for salaried postions over the next six months...

I suspect the uptick at SZ is, in significant part, a result of bargain hunting home buyers scoring big in the pre-owned housing market and deciding to splurge on kitchen renos/ appliances w/ the 'savings'.

Estimate aka propaganda. The inevitable “unexpected” revision down will be covered by Fox and by everyone else on page G35 (below the fold). That is, if zero allows them to cover it at all.

The only thing you left out is that this is INTENTIONAL. The Great Depression gave us our first major leap toward socialism, the so-called “Great Society.” They are hoping the coming nightmare will let them finish the job.

That happened to us as well. While my hubby was out of work for those 4 months, money came from the most unexepected and unlikely sources (he did NOT get unemployment). We were not late on a single bill (we did pay the mortgage 2 weeks late once, but still within the time period allowed).

I can honestly say that my faith was tested and stretched, just as it should be during a trial by fire, but the end result has reenforced the fact(for me at least)that God is indeed in control, and our job is to have faith that He knows our situation, and then prayerfully act in accordance to the opportunities He provides.

I believe alot of the goings on in this country are a reality check from the Almighty. HE is the giver of gifts, the giver of life and the provider of all. The people of this country seem to have forgotten that, and our sinful, culture of death society needed an enema. We are gettin it! We can not have the blessings of the creator when we have fallen in to sin by worshipping the creation (money, sex, power, materialism etc). Hopefully, this once christian nation will wake up and return to Him, so he can return to us! That free will thing sure is a bi&ch!

The government has begun to cook the books.

Personal income is down. Tax revenue is way down... which means people are earning and spending less. Consumer confidence is down, as are orders for durable goods. The only thing on its way up is unemployment, which continues to grow; real unemployment now hovers close to 17%.

Democrats lie.

Why not ask the millions and millions of people who can’t find a job.
