We live in a semi-rural area north of the Capital of the Great State of Texas.
We hear gun shots quite often.
The only difference, the shots we hear are LIKE MINDED individuals preparing to defend their sovereignty and freedom. (or getting ready for hunting season)

I find I shoot better prone. Or sitting. Or kneeling. Or even standing. Generally in order of preference, with running coming in dead last.
There is no order when under fire actually, you will always do what you know.
Out in our neighborhood, the sound of gunfire is the sound of freedom. And meat on the table.

We left Las Vegas and came to Anchorage. THanks to a lot of bleeding hearts - the area is infested with PI gangbangers. Add all the ‘refugees’ that the Catholics are importing, we are in the priverbial handbasket.
I could sell the house, but the kids and grandkids live here becase there is work to be had.
You have suggestions for a low tax, low crime area that has a reasonable cost of housing and jobs?
I think we will hear more and more of this crap.
Offhand, I'd tell you that you couldn't go wrong by moving to North-Central Texas. That area is forecast to have higher growth over the next ten years, than any other place in the country. It's also low crime, and there's no personal income tax. And the housing prices can't be beat, compared to most other areas.
But, you'd do well to do your own due diligence. You say that you're in Anchorage. I'll bet that there are good places to move to in Alaska.
Same here. If I hear a gun go off in my neighborhood, I know that someone's putting dinner on the table, or knocking down a pest of some sort.
If you listen to the youtube, he explicitly says that his house was HIT by a shot.
