He is a good man.

I don’t know about Mclintock, but I seen the Quiet Man, and Mclintock was no Quiet Man. I thing Sarah Palin would spank Maureen O’Hara thought.
Well that's a different topic. Feel free to post it.
Carry_Okie, thanks for making that point yourself.

McClintock also supports Harmer.
Is there a reason you're not making that point?
And Elk Grove Dan and other California FReepers, I ask, are you aware of the race in the California 10th District on November 3rd? This is the other special election that will be on that day. There is a fiscally conservative Republican in that race who is getting no support from the party and very little attention from the media.
That race pits Demcorat Lt. Governor Garamendi against conservative Republican David Harmer. The district has been gerrymandered into what should be a “safe Democrat seat,” but a poll around the beginning of October showed this race with a single digit margin. It is an opportunity for Republicans to pick up a seat with a candidate who:
I am also contacting the NRCC to ask why they are supporting Scozzafava in the race in upstate New York, and why they are ignoring David Harmer in this close race in California’s 10th district. Here are the numbers if anyone else wants to call:

Also, perhaps those of us who donated to the RNC or RCCC should ask for our money back so we can support the conservative candidates of our choice.

Candidates I support: Doug Hoffman for Congress, NY 23rd (PayPal), David Harmer for Congress, CA 10th (website for info). Please, spread the word about these important special elections on November 3, 209: New York’s 23rd congressional district and California’s 10th congressional district. |
I think the rest of the nation is starting to see the liberal side of the GOP, i.e, Newt and that’s the message that needs to be driven home. This election, IMO, the GOP truly exposed themselves with ‘their choices’ and Dede is one! Their NOT backing conservative Harmer in CA is another! “Their support” of RINO Crist is another. No need to mention RINO McCain, and pushing RINO Mitt now - and their disdain for Palin.

Thanks for the ping. Good reminder that it’s time for me to send Tom another donation—just penciled him in.
“Don’t blame me, I voted for McClintock!”:)
You and me both. Too bad we had the likes of Hugh Hewitt, Certified RNC Bootlicker, broadcasting that McClintock “couldn’t win” and that it was a waste to vote for him. The truth is that Hewitt was carrying water for the squishy moderate insiders who have done so much to wreck the California GOP.
“California made a huge mistake voting for Arnold instead of McClintock for governor when they ran against each other.”
Tell that to the crowd that runs Townhall.com and the Salem Radio Network. That bunch of phonies started pushing Arnold after McClintock and the grassroots conservative activists unseated Gray Davis.
“# Dick Armey”
I won’t hold Armey’s support against Hoffman.
Armey is an amnesty pushing illegal alien supporter, and I couldn’t be more pleased than to see that that drunk is out of Congress.
It’s my recollection that the Bush admin screwed McClintock.
“Its my recollection that the Bush admin screwed McClintock.”
I think you have that exactly right. Hewitt’s support of Arnold over McClintock was a good indicator of what the Bush GOP wanted done. McClintock wouldn’t have been a reliable flunky for that crowd, he’s too principled and would have put what is right for the people of California ahead of what is expedient for the big tent faction of the GOP.
Bush admin. had told Tom that Bush would come out and make a speech for him. Then, they rescinded that offer very late in the campaign. IIRC.
That is Tom McClintock for you. He doesn't sell out and stands on logic and principles. Even after all the pandering to the RINO’s from the California GOP, Tom was in the lead at a certain point and I can't remember what he lost by, but I believe is was somewhat close. Plus, it didn't help that Arnold was Mr. Flameboyant during the debates. Tom came across levelheaded and straightforward but he was competing with Hollywood and this is California land of Fruits and Nuts.;)
I really can't say enough about him. A friend met him once at a Conservative function and had a long conversation with him and said he's absolutely the Real Deal.
