Okay, here we go. Can the Phillies repeat? Now that she is no longer the junior senator, do the Yankees break "The Hillary Curse"?

From my Fearless Predictions - more stats and stuff but don't know how to go from my file in my hard drive to this post other than cut and paste.

NY Yankees #1 Offense #14 Defense
Philadelphia #4 Offense #7 Defense

World Series winner: NY Yankees

(Ranks based on regular season stats.) Philly had better piching in the regular season but the Bronx bombers seem to be blasting away. Interstingly, in recent years in the playoffs, the team with the better hittng record seems to overcome the teams with the better pitching record.

Thanks, CaptRon, I’ve been relying on ESPN radio in the post-season. I just need to get to a radio asap.

YVW. Did you try the Gameday thingy? It’s great for work. No sound and you get the pitch-by-pitch summary and other stats, like pitchers’ balls v. strikes.

Oh my ... Ret. Capt. Tony Odierno .. God bless him. What a handsome man .. how grateful and blessed we are for men and women of such valor, duty and sacrifice. Can't forget his incredible Dad, Gen. Ray Odierno.

Anthony and Daniela Odierno

LASTING ORDEAL

*snip*

Ordierno does, however, know well the anguish experienced by the parents of wounded troops.

On Aug. 21, 2004, insurgents ambushed the unit commanded by Capt. Anthony Odierno, and the West Point graduate lost his left arm. The general and his wife, Linda, rushed to their son's bedside at a military hospital in Germany.

Odierno said his son's injuries changed nothing about how he leads soldiers -- and nearly everything about his perceptions of how war affects their families.

"Sacrifices are now personal for the Odierno family. That helps me understand sacrifices that many families are going through," he said. "I'm acutely aware we want to make sure we have programs in place that will take care of these families -- maybe I'm a bit more aware because I experienced that as a father."

Anthony Odierno, now 29, retired as a captain and is now pursuing an MBA at New York University. He's also an intern with the New York Yankees this summer -- a job that has allowed his father, a rabid Yankees fan, to visit Yankee Stadium.

The visits to the storied ballpark haven't been the elder Odierno's first brush with the big leagues. His West Point baseball team played an exhibition game against the Yankees or the Mets on alternating years. Odierno pitched in every game. His best outing came his junior year, against the Mets. He pitched one inning and faced Ed Kranepool, Dave Kingman and Jim Beauchamp.

"I retired the side. It was pretty exciting," Odierno said.

Odierno attributed that memorable outing -- and most things he has accomplished since -- to growing up in Morris County and playing sports at Morris Hills High School.

"It was a great place to grow up. . . . It had had a big effect on my life," Odierno said. "It's what got me into West Point. I always feel comfortable when I go back."

~~~~~~~~~~
The Odiernos belong to a family tradition of American soldiering that has become remarkably commonplace. Of the 300 army generals in the US military, about a third have sons or daughters who have served or are serving in Iraq or Afghanistan.
~~~~~~~~~

So that's where Greg Kelly went .. Greg Kelly interviews Anthony Odierno and Mr. Dupuy about Welcome Back, Veterans and throwing out the first pitch.

Video - Matthew McConaughey about supporting our troops

God bless all our heroes!

...and for 10 bucks you can get live camera up to four different angles and live commentary including slo-mo replay on every play. In some ways better than regular TV.

I think that it looks like it’s raining harder due to the foreshortening that the camera gives you. I live 20 miles north of the Stadium and it’s drizzling little but that’s it.

Good to hear. Booing at the Bank wouldn’t mean much. We boo EVERYONE, even our own players ;^)

I agree with your premise, but that one batter’s helmet had water all over it.
