STATEN ISLAND -- In a shocking snapshot of life without health insurance, a New Dorp mother and her sick child were turned away from a doctor’s office because she didn’t have the money to cover the visit.
Crystal Ramos-Robles grabbed her 10-month-old daughter’s medical records and stormed out of a Dongan Hills pediatrician’s office Monday morning when the doctor refused to see the infant because mom didn’t have $20 to fork over at the front desk.

She has as much right to steal the doctor's services as she does to steal the burgers.

No doubt there will be much more info regarding what really happened. Since she grabbed her kids medical records when she left it sounds like she had been there before. Perhaps she has a history of not paying her bills.

In any case, I bet you almost anything she could find things such as DVD’s or cell phones or TV’s in her house worth $20.

It's just toooo convenient and fits the template too nicely.
Been poor lots of times, and have never been denied treatment due to lack of ability to pay. Drs. office OR hospital.

What constituted “sick”? If the flu (that time of year again, ya know), then no moral reason to compel service for free. If something serious, the ER is thataway (they’ll confirm it’s the flu, THEN bill her for $20 - and send the repo guys when she doesn’t pay).
