Offset your carbon emissions for $6.66 this Halloween

If global warming scares you, think about spending $6.66 to offset your carbon emissions this Halloween.
The Delta Institute, which sells carbon offset credits to corporations on the Chicago Climate Exchange, is opening up its books to the public.
For $6.66, you can offset 1 metric ton of carbon dioxide emissions. The number 666 is usually associated with evil, but the money will do some good in this case.
When someone plants trees or grasses, they absorb CO2 and essentially negate CO2 emissions somewhere else, explains Todd Parker, an associate with the Institute in Lansing.
The offsets are generated primarily in Michigan and Illinois, from forestry and agricultural practices. Those include practices by dozens of landowners in the Saginaw Valley.
None of the credits come from projects in Transylvania, Parker laughed.
But purchasing the credits means theres less credits to go around to corporations, he said.
That means, in theory, that companies will have to make more of their own reductions instead of buying credits to offset emissions.

I've been floating around this plan of mine to make money off these type of people. I have a field that is close to 20 acres. I'm thinking of selling people a "tree". I'd post a picture of the tree on-line and periodically send you updates on it's progress. Maybe it could even send you a Christmas, er, I mean Winter Solstice card. All for a low, low price of, oh, I haven't quite figured all the details.

I’ll buy carbon credits right after I contribute to the DNC. Might be a r e a l l y l o n g w a i t.

"But purchasing the credits means theres less credits to go around to corporations, he said. That means, in theory, that companies will have to make more of their own reductions instead of buying credits to offset emissions." It must be very, very difficult to 'make' credits.
Shortages already predicted.
LOL!

I think that the 666 number is so appropriate. Kinda like when ALGORE stated that his favorite Bible verse was John 16:3.

The carbon traders came to earth just in time. Nature just isn’t smart enough to see a surplus of CO2 and use it to create more plant life. In spite of billions of years of history the process now needs to be managed by people of Al Gore’s caliber.
The CO2 absorbed by a growing tree will be sequestered until that tree succumbs to fire or old age in which case the CO2 will be released again. If you cut the tree down for timber and use it in construction, you will sequester the CO2 for a bit longer.

LOL.
Are there really people out there that will take this seriously?
“Here’s some money so you can plant things 1000 miles away. And I get to stick it big corporations, who will now have to find some other way to reduce emmisions that they don’t have to anyway!”

the atomic number of carbon is 6...probably why they emphasized the 6’s. Some young punk is also doing an “in your face” on Christians, poking at them to see if they’ll respond negatively!

I’ve been thinking of something similar. Just because I think it is BS doesn’t mean I can’t deliver a product that someone else finds value in.

In spite of billions of years of history the process now needs to be managed by people of Al Gores caliber. Didn't kids used to trick-or-treat for UNICEF?
Perhaps the One-World Climate Change crew will make Halloween a collect for Al Gore holiday? Shake down the neighbors for cash to stop Climate Change??

That’s a rip off!
Recently, my uncle bought CO2 for 20 cents a metric ton, calls it ‘insurance’. LOL
Maybe, since I’m in the transportation industry, I should give him a call.
I keep thinking the gov. can’t be that stupid.

For the hard sale, send them a picture of you with a chain saw next to the tree. Tell them you’ll cut it down if they don’t pay up.
