A four-hour stop in New Orleans, on his way to a $3 million fundraiser.
Snubbing the Dalai Lama.
Signing off on a secret deal with drug makers.
Freezing out a TV network.
Doing more fundraisers than the last president. More golf, too.
President Barack Obama has done all of those things and more.Whats remarkable is what hasnt happened. These episodes havent become metaphors for Obamas personal and political character or consuming controversies that sidetracked the rest of his agenda.
Its a sign that the medias echo chamber can be a funny thing, prone to the vagaries of news judgment, and an illustration that, in politics, context is everything.
Conservatives look on with a mix of indignation and amazement and ask: Imagine the fuss if George W. Bush had done these things?
And quickly add, with a hint of jealousy: How does Obama get away with it?

The fact that W is following the time-honored tradition of refraining from public criticism of his successor even though Jimmy Carter, bill clinton, and algore regularly ignored it is a testament to W's honor and decency.
Even you know that the "Mission Accomplished" banner was for the SHIP that was returning to dock having accomplished its mission - and not in any way a claim that our military objectives overseas had been completed. But that won't stop you from joining in with the democrat talking points to engage in a little Bush-bashing, eh?
Im not cheerleading for him in partisan games. But so what he put on his uniform and did a poli photo op. He did not sit on his hands as CIC putting troops in harms way negating troop morale with politically correct ROE and play lawyer FOR terrorists and give them miranda rights. Obama is in partisan campaign mode 24/7.
Nothing p****ed me off more. That carrier (Lincoln?) had been back to the gulf thrice I believe, having to turn around on its way home having served two missions under the previous president (a nameless wanker).
See:
I was listening to Davis who filled in for Rush and he said the same thing that a President needs to not criticize but a VP is free to say what they want. Thank God that we have Dick Cheney as our former VP whose is not afraid to speak out.
I was appalled when Carter and Clinton both took potshots at a sitting President — it is not necessary and demeans the office IMHO.
Will be glad to have Cheney keep right on talking.
For the record, that ‘Mission Accomplished’ banner was FOR THE SHIP RETURNING HOME. It was in NO WAY meant to be for the whole war.
What if President Bush had fired a special investigator because he was uncovering corruption on the part of one of the President’s friends? Obama did that and the media didn’t even notice.
Hell. These days I miss Bill Clinton.
Ain’t that the truth.
Obama is failing so pathetically. You could put Jimmah Carter in that pic.
They had served admirably and accomplished their mission, and to have their Commander in Chief fly a jet out to greet them and thank them was an incredible experience for them.
Not only was it NOT a negative, it was a powerful positive for our troops, and that fact shouldn't be lost in the leftist rhetoric that overwhelmed the occasion.
President Bush is doing the RIGHT thing by keeping silent, and anyone here who argues otherwise, is not.
He still needs to be meeting with the Generals more than just to dress them down for speaking out of turn. He has time to shake hands for photo ops with the troops but is NOT serving in his role as COMMANDER IN CHIEF.
The press is not looking at the skin color. The policies of John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama would contain similar agenda items.
They find in Obama a vessel that they can use sell liberal programs to America. It is about advancing the agenda, not the man. They lied for the Clintons for nearly 20 years (only turning on them when Hillary posed a threat to the Obama candidacy in 2008).
There may well be almost an unconscious effort on the part of the media to give Obama a bit more slack because he is more likable, because he is the first African-American president.”

Anyone who still finds Obama more likable than W. would find Seth Pecksniff more likable than Martin Chuzzlewit.
They have gone from having one who respected and loved them, and wept for their sacrifice, to having a pretender who literally hates them, and doesn't give a rip about their deaths or their suffering.
There were no military "photo ops" with President Bush. Obama never spends a minute with our troops (and those are very few) that is NOT a photo op.
The contrast between the two men could not be starker.
Perhaps George Bush believes it would be a losing proposition for him to defend himself, he is probably better served by standing back and allowing the nation to realize its own grevious error. I doubt that he has much control over Cheney one way or the other at this point.
What ticks me off is the Dems Alinsky talking points were repeated so often even to this very day the dems spout off the ‘No WMD Iraq’ talking points. I remember the MSM reporting they were moved to Syria when we announced via the U.N. upteen times we are coming to invade you if the upteenth U.N. nasty letter to you does not work, prior to the war.
The WMD were moved to Syria because of political correctness diplomacy kissing the U.N’s collective rear end. Bush sat on his dumb, collective rear end while the dems Alinsky talking points were repeated over and over until believed.

Idiot Bush should have just played this video to the dems.

And now Obama, the democRATS and the MSM are singing this to Bush

Because Fox and Rush won’t be the new ‘boogey man.’
