Scientology Spokesman Tommy Davis Leaves Interview in Anger
The Church of Scientology is taking a beating today.
First, former member Paul Haggis wrote a scathing letter renouncing the religion, and now a video of spokesman Tommy Davis walking out of an interview with Martin Bashir on 'Nightline,' is making the rounds on the Internet.
Davis was offended when Bashir asked questions about the popular celebrity religion's beliefs.
"Do you believe that the Galactic Emperor called Xenu brought his people to earth 75 million years ago and buried them in volcanoes?" Bashir asked.
"Martin, I'm not going to discuss the disgusting perversions of Scientology beliefs that can be found out commonly on the Internet and be put in the position of talking about things that ... talking about things that are so fundamentally offensive to Scientologists to discuss," Davis replied.
But the 'Nightline' anchor pressed on. "Well, I have the burden of my own journalistic responsibility that I bring to this meeting and I hope that I've been appropriately respectful of you in my asking of the questions."

I’ve met a number of them in person especially here in the Hollywood corridor. Can’t miss the huge buildings the “church” owns. The question was legit and they should be free to worship any religion in this country. They dont worship the devil but an alien made up by a supposed child molester, sciencefiction writer. If that fills their emptiness and makes em’ happy so be it.
They dont seem happy based on my conversations with them but hey, if they found the “answer’ to life, good for them. Just dont try to tell me to join which they attempted a couple of times already..
Eunuchs?
As far as I’m concerned, South Park has made a perpetual laughing stock out of Scientology (Tom Cruise won’t come out of the closet).

>> Eunuchs?
Well, it *used* to be Unix before that hacker got a hold of it and cut parts out.
Which parts?

I think in Eunuchs, they cut out “named pipes”. You know, like “Little Sir Tick”, “Little loungitude”, named pipes.
Ooowwwich!
I was on the street in Cambridge, Massachusetts, one Saturday night in 1970. A hawker passing out half-sheet flyers with a mimeoed paragraph put one in my hand."FREE SCIENTOLOGY LECTURE" time, address, room number--ah ha, within fifteen minutes, right here, upstairs, down the hall.
A room full of folding chairs with a brother in a plaid used-car-salesman jacket at the chalk board. Very jive, very Psych 101.
I asked a few questions; got a few glib brush-offs.
Finally the E-meter: two washed-out soup cans sans labels, wired to the mystery meter read by used-car-salesman brother in his wild and crazy jacket.
Questions and response. Stupid questions--
--and, wonder of wonders, Jive Jacket Man told me the dire news--
--I had "negative concepts" and would need work.
I handed him back his cans.
According to the affidavit you linked, these people use techniques familiar to CAIR--which Daniel Pipes indicates faces growing resistance.
Americans favor freedom; generally think control-freaks suck.
That whole "Adolf-in-the-bunker" thing comes to mind.
My brother grabbed the cans, the meter moved, and the woman told him that he had “negative concepts”. He asked her if she was enlightened. She said yes. Then he told her to grab the cans so he could see what happens on the meter.
That was the end of the conversation.
Rip off the microphone, jump in their wahmbulance.
It really was started on a bet by a science fiction writer.
If Scientologist are comfortable in their convictions regarding their religion, then why are they so defensive about the basic tenets of same?
“Don’t know much about science, eh?

Under Operation Snow White, Scientology operatives committed infiltration, wiretapping, and theft of documents in government offices, most notably those of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service. Eleven highly-placed Church executives, including Mary Sue Hubbard (wife of founder L. Ron Hubbard and second in command of the organization), pled guilty or were convicted in federal court of obstructing justice, burglary of government offices, and theft of documents and government property. The case was United States vs. Mary Sue Hubbard et al., 493 F. Supp. 209 (D.D.C. 1979). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Snow_White
Scientology is evil; its techniques are evil; its practice is a serious threat to the community, medically, morally, and socially; and its adherents are sadly deluded and often mentally ill (Scientology is) the worlds largest organization of unqualified persons engaged in the practice of dangerous techniques which masquerade as mental therapy. Justice Anderson, Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia
one is part of a Federal Indictment against Scientology for Conspiracy against the Federal Government of the United States
The crime committed by these defendants is of a breadth and scope previously unheard of. No building, office, desk, or file was safe from their snooping and prying. No individual or organization was free from their despicable conspiratorial minds. The tools of their trade were miniature transmitters, lock picks, secret codes, forged credentials and any other device they found necessary to carry out their conspiratorial schemes.
Federal prosecutors memorandum to the judge urging stiff jail sentences for 9 top leaders of Scientology who had pleaded guilty to criminal charges
The court record is] replete with evidence [that Scientology] is nothing in reality but a vast enterprise to extract the maximum amount of money from its adepts by pseudo scientific theories and to exercise a kind of blackmail against persons who do not wish to continue with their sect . The organization clearly is schizophrenic and paranoid, and this bizarre combination seems to be a reflection of its founder, L.Ron Hubbard. Judge Breckenridge, Los Angeles Superior Court

Tom Cruise's wife is reportedly taking issue with her husband over the issue of a Scientology upbringing of their daughter, Suri.
Well, Hollyweird fact or fiction, Scientology is not the mystery cult it once was as new things about it regularly come to light these days. I believe Germany bans Scientologists from entering the country.
Well, to each his own. I'm just thankful to the Lord I wasn't born into a family that embraces Scientology cultism.

I'm in NO WAY defending Scientologists. As I said, they're wackos and crackpots. But, I am being critical of the MSM who apparently have no reservations about examining, ridiculing and castigating every known religion, with one exception.
If Islam was examined with such a critical eye, there would be all manner of people screaming racism and demanding apologies and retraction - or else. And, it's the "or else" which should give us all pause.
When a Scientologist cuts the head off of a critic, then I'll start paying attention. Until then, I don't care how people or where people find their "spiritual truth", no matter how ridiculous, silly or "cultish" that truth may be.
You know, once he ponies up some more cash and reaches that 9th level, he won’t get angry anymore.
Scientology is to religion as Olbermann is to journalist.
Well mama said if i “can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all.”
