WASHINGTON (AFP) – President Barack Obama has declared swine flu a "national emergency," the White House said Saturday, as the United States reels from millions of cases of infection and over 1,000 deaths.

It is interesting how many people have been given Cipro or Levaquin for a minor bacterial infection or not even a bacterial infection. These antibiotics were developed to fight the “designer bacterias” but doctors just hand them out like candy and now they are not effective against the very bacteria they were meant to kill. I guess I need to shut up on this subject. This posting is on the flu and I have managed to pull an Obama trick...putting focus on something else that minimizes the focus on the subject. HA!
This ploy of Obama to make the flu a national emergency has taken our attention and the attention of the media...hmmmmm...seems it has worked in some regard. Thanks for sharing your note...jacquej....
The 2 first identified cases actually turned out to be in the US (from the San Diego area). Because one was in the family of a Navy employee and the other family had some connection with the base, there was speculation that they may have gotten it from some exposure to an Asian form of the virus carried by somebody returning to the base from the Far East. Then it seems to have been brought into Mexico from California by tourists or people visiting their families. Or maybe by Obama visiting? LOL! However, I stopped following the situation at that point, because it was seeming more and more like much ado about nothing, so it’s possible that they may have found something else in the meantime.
In any case, I think Obama is just seizing on this as a way of getting things in place for a total lock-down. They’ve spent the entire summer trying to build up hysteria and it wasn’t working, so now they’re just going to go ahead anyway.

I can’t believe it would be martial law...there’s really not enough pretext for it. That said, it wouldn’t surprise me in the least if anything that is eventually done happens on a Sunday, since most of us would be busy with church and family and not even know what was going on until later in the day.
I wonder if he’s been told he has a limited time in the spotlight.

I just called my mom and she had no idea Zero has called for a swine flu emergency. I suspect there are hundreds of millions that also haven’t heard yet.

And most of those 1,000 deaths were caused by other ailments the patients had, not just by the swine flu alone. At least, that’s what I’ve read.
