I don’t know, but see my post #27. Something’s up in the world of top secret nuclear science — some kind of information must have leaked out recently — a double agent discovered, or somebody suddenly becoming a double agent — and this death and the arrest are part of the fallout.
The Ft. Marcy Park of nuclear physics...??
Hans Melchers is owner of Melchemie Holland BV, which had supplied chemicals to Iraq in the 1980s and was once fined for a shipment of banned chemicals, which it called a "one-time mistake." Melchers' ex-wife, Anna Maria Lievens, was found dead at the bottom of the stairs of her home in Malta in 1999, reportedly after a fall. Dutch media said Lievens had contacted Dutch financial authorities alleging her husband's company sold chemicals to Iraq, Syria and Libya. -------- "Dutch Millionaire's Daughter Released," By TOBY STERLING, Associated Press Writer, YahooNews/AP, Thu Sep 15, 2005 ; http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1485337/posts
“Four months ago another UN worker also believed to be British fell from a similar height in the same building, it has been reported.”
Coincidence. NOT!!
Somebody hates these cans!
I fell down the stairs once at a pricey restaurant.
Broke my ankle, but the bruies...what a bummer.
Thanks for the additional post piasa.
Probably just your typical absent minded professor thinking about flubber or some sort of death ray...
Sounds like a job for Bond, James Bond.
OFF THREAD TOPIC (but interesting)...

Vienna, one of the spy capitals of the world

VIENNA (AFP) Twenty years after the end of the Cold War, Vienna remains a spy haven, swarming with foreign agents who think nothing of killing in broad daylight, while the Austrian authorities turn a blind eye, experts say.
Vienna formed the backdrop to Orson Welles’s legendary spy thriller “The Third Man” in 1949, but even today it remains a hive of secret service activity.
“Austria is still a favourite place for agents. They’re frequently known to the authorities, but rarely hindered. Everything is handled courteously and diplomatically. There’s a long tradition in that,” said Siegfried Beer, director of the Austrian Centre for Intelligence, Propaganda and Security Studies (ACIPSS), at the University of Graz.
In the latest addition to a growing list of cases that look unlikely ever to be resolved, a Chechen dissident, Umar Israilov, was gunned down in broad daylight in the Austrian capital on January 13.

RIP.
I’m betting on a serial murderer... the Slinky Killer.
Don’t know if anyone remembers, but maybe 10 years ago there was a long string of these sorts of “accidents” worldwide, including here in the US. Maybe the string is starting up again?
This is wrong. It was a U.S. citizen (working for the IAEA) who fell to his death about four months ago. It was in a different building of the same Vienna International Centre complex.
