Congress Passes 'Pedophile Protection Act'
World Net Daily ^ | October 22, 2009 | Bob Unruh

A "hate crimes" plan that opponents have warned will be used to crack down on Christian speech, even the reading of the Bible, is poised to be signed by President Obama, a longtime proponent of the plan to give homosexuals and those with other alternative lifestyles special protections not provided other classes of citizens.

The Senate approved the "hate crimes" plan 68-29 today after Democrats strategically attached it to a "must-pass" $680 billion defense appropriations plan.

Most Republicans, although normally strong supporters of the U.S. military, opposed the plan.

"The inclusion of the controversial language of the hate crimes legislation, which is unrelated to our national defense, is deeply troubling," Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., told Fox News after the vote.

The plan also hands out federal money to states and local governments in pursuit of "preventing" hate crimes.

Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., said the move is a step toward thought crimes and suggested the bill will be a warning against those to speak out about their religious faith.

To me, it’s no longer about high taxes or excessive spending. This is about overt political and religious persecution.

And if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around his neck.

Those who physically attack gays should be charged with assault and tossed in prison. And obviously those who speak out against gays should not be charged with any crime and I see no place in this bill that would punish those who exercise their tight to free speech.

I suspect most of these deviant Congressional nitwits actually prefer teenagers (ephebophilia) or early 20s (merely pathetic) over young children (pedophilia).

I haven’t heard a single $%^&*()$#@ Republican congress critter utter a defiant word in months. No word of condemnation, no open declaration of opposition.Nothing.Nothing.Nothing.One party rule, Democrats by power, Republicans utter submission or silence.

Even if it ultimately did punish anti-homosexual speech, I would speak out anyhow, if called upon to do so.

“This is about overt political and religious persecution.”

As long as you do not physically attack a gay or a person with a disability, you will not be charged with a crime.

So, No persecution.

Ummmm, we’re like totally outnumbered. If you want to do something, vote out the dems. That’s where your anger and passion should be...

Agree 100%. This is an attempt to silence Christianity. They have no idea what a hornets nest they’ve opened up. I can’t wait until the first pink tutu wearing gay opens fire on a Pastor’s sermon. It WILL go to court and the 1st amendment WILL be used in defense.

Going to come down one of 2 ways 1) the 1st amendment will be upheld and this ‘law’ will be declared unconstitutional or 2) the 1st amendment will become toilet paper and then CWII opens up as something a mite hotter than rhetoric in forums and chatrooms.

The problem with this law is that it opens the door to misuse of the kind which is exceedingly costly to fight.

The Constitution already prohibits Congress from granting titles of nobility, but here we are ~

Not that Republicans are silent, the MSM “newsies” only have time to cover their Democrat buddies. You have to search for Republican materials ~ and FR is a good start. Many of us are ALSO Republicans and make sure that fundamental principles are clearly enunciated in each and every public issue, and that RINO intrusions are denounced.

The need for the law seems to be redundant since any person that calls themselves a Christian and physically attacks another human, gay or straight should be locked in prison.

So, don’t attack a gay and you won’t be charged with a hate crime or a violent crime.

Which Repubs voted for this thing?

I don't have the whole list, but this one led the Rino charge.

He said 2 weeks ago that he would vote for the appropriations bill and hid behind the uniforms of the military for cover, even though it had the "hate crimes" crap included in it.

I understand the enemedia is censoring the Republicans, but if they wanted to be heard they could.Where are the denunciations from the steps of the capitol? Where are the spirited demonstrations by the elected? Where are the “leaders” in congress, they come out and make a few statements and then vanish back into the scenery. The heavy lifting is ONLY being done by the informed citizens.
Congress does not believe that informed citizens exist, and do not fear the loss of their seats.
The Republican Congress critters are just ridin it out.Like true politicians.”Janus” they have all become.
