Remember Ida, the fossil discovery announced last May with its own book and TV documentary? A publicity blitz called it "the link" that would reveal the earliest evolutionary roots of monkeys, apes and humans.
Experts protested that Ida wasn't even a close relative. And now a new analysis supports their reaction...

Good to see that science polices itself in its constant search for fact-based truth. This is more proof that science, when applied properly, works.
How AGW has continued to exist for 6 years or so is a testament to funding formulas, not the scientific method.
So sad that philosophy has no such mechanism to even vet the basics.

How AGW has continued to exist for 6 years or so is a testament to funding formulas, not the scientific method. I agree absolutely. But AGW has been around longer than that. I recall reading scare stuff about it in the 1980s -- plenty of time for real science to call BS. But "scientific correctness" -- the party line required for funding and job security -- is undermining the true scientific method.

Ditto. Here's another thread highlighting a different abuse of "scientific method". Post #12, by triple G, the man some evo's here, love to hate.
[i swear i didn't notice who the poster of 12 was until i had already decided to post a link, and point to that comment in particular]
I think I can get away with mentioning him without pinging. He'll be around to this thread shortly, I reckon...

Only cranks would have believed in something like this. Probably why that nutbag from Little Green Footballs was slobbering about it.
To: bogusname
If you like. Which interpretation of Genesis would you like to accept?
