From the time he entered the White House, President Obama frequently has spoken about having inherited an economic mess, and he has been criticized for it. But the expression arguably has been used even more often by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Nine months later, it is a theme she returns to regularly at home and abroad.
During her most recent trip, a six-day visit to Western Europe and Russia earlier this month, Clinton used the phrase publicly at least four times on three occasions.
At a joint press conference with her British counterpart David Miliband in London on October 11, she said with regard to Afghanistan, We have been in office about nine months. We obviously believe that the prior eight years were not as effective or focused as they might have been our challenge has been to take what we inherited
The following day, during a BBC Radio interview, she said, I think there has been to some extent, inherited from our prior involvement in Afghanistan, a lack of clarity. A few moments later she added, We also dont want to continue doing what we inherited.
In Russia on October 14, Clinton said during a town hall event at Moscow State University, We are making an in-depth review of our policy in Afghanistan. There were some things that we inherited from the prior administration

Speaking about inherited problems, 9/11 was Bill Clinton’s fault. If he was paying more attention to Bin Laden and not getting his knob polished by Monica Lewinsky in the Oval Office, it could have been avoided.
Is the economy better or worse since 2006?
Inherited Problems for the USA:
Zero, the Socialist and his anti-American wife
Soros, the self-hating Jew and anti-Semite
Socialist Czars that want to destroy our country
Bill and Hitlery, the one-world government agents
For any thinking person, the ZerO administration's efforts to continue to blame Bush is absolutely ridiculous. Unfortunately, there are a lot of people in this country who don't think.
Bump!
NOT Inherited!!!
They bid on the problems, and WON.
(Just like e-bay)
Bush is GONE!!! Get over it!!! You wanted the presidency, you got it, now FIX THE DAMN ECONOMY!!!!
My anger is toward the mindless masses that elected these traitors. “They’re putting too much [work] on Obama.” Yeah, I’ve heard that.
She’s spending all her time giving excuses why she is so ineffective. Bush inherited a lot more problems then she did and you never heard a word out of him about the Clinton administration. These people are classless and, what is worse, incompetent.
What you gona do when they come for you? Bad Boy, Bad Boy. . . . .
Yep, just goes to show how far into the future the policies of an administration has upon the nation/world. It takes a long time to turn things around and it matters not which party/administration initiated them. So the addage ‘elections have consequences’ is valid.
Bill Clinton claimed great things but left the next president a recession by design.
Now put that with 9/11, NINE months after taking office.
Dubya never went after the press I believe it was a mistake but this attack is nothing short of a mob move.
obama knows he is a poser and must deflect any opposition.
We as a country are exposed and we will be hit.
The first Bush, or second? :-/
She also inherited a blueprint on how to win in Afghanistan called the Iraq Surge.
She should leverage the lessons learned from the past and apply them to today instead of ignoring the past and using it as a crutch.
So Bush inherited 9-11 then?
Nice analogy. I was thinking the same thing but couldn’t drive it home and succintly as you put it.
One of the things that really took the cake for me with Bill Clinton was his entrapment of W by
signing the executive order on the impossibly low levels of arsenic in public water. These levels were far below “safe” and also far below “economically attainable”.
He did it on purpose so that the left could yell “Bush wants arsenic in your water” when Bush had to rescind it.
