MSNBC ^ | October 19th | Dan Balz and Jon Cohen

As Democratic congressional leaders and White House officials work to shape health care bills that will go to the House and Senate floors, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows that support for a government-run health plan to compete with private insurers has rebounded from its summertime lows and now wins clear majority support from the public.

*sigh* another day, another push poll. Now what did they play with in order to get their pre-determined result?

Poll was of “adults” not voters. You get a more lefty result this way.

Another meaningless poll.

It surprises me not at all that a majority can be found to support a "public option." They will never find a majority who will still favor it after they understand what "public option" actually means.

Heard a poll on ABC Radio News today...only 19% of respondents approve of the job Republicans in Congress are doing...they went the whole story before adding at the end. In the poll, only 20 percent identified themselves as Republicans. Most listeners are too dense to understand the implications, so...damage done.

Do you think these media outlets have some kind of formalized agreement about which on is going to put out the weekly push-poll?

Every other poll that has come out about this, has shown the exact opposite. And yet, this is the one that gets picked up and talked about by other media outlets. Seems a little too convenient.

Look at this breakdown, does it make sense?

Overall, 45 percent of Americans favor the broad outlines of the proposals now moving in Congress, while 48 percent are opposed,

. Seven in 10 Democrats back the plan while almost nine in 10 Republicans oppose it.

Independents divide 52 percent against, 42 percent in favor of the set of reforms

I guess if Republicans are only 20 % (!) and Democraps are 35 % and Independents are 45 %, you might get these numbers..But of course, thats BS. Theyre lieing, IMO.

I don’t think it’s another poll, it’s the same discredited poll, they just keep re-using it because it’s all they’ve got.
