Support for Democrats' Health Care Reform Falls to 42 Percent, Poll Shows
Foxnews ^ | 10/19/2009 | Staff

Just 42 percent of voters support Democrats' health care reform plans even though a majority wants Congress to pass some version of reform, according to a new poll released Monday.

The Rasmussen survey shows 54 percent is opposed to the plans backed by President Obama and Democrats in Congress. The percentage of voters supporting the proposals is down 2 points from the previous week and down 4 points from the week before that.

The survey reflects persistent public skepticism toward the health care overhaul in its current form, even as it advances steadily through Congress. The Senate Finance Committee last week became the last of five congressional panels to approve its version of health care reform -- the full House and Senate still have to merge and vote on their separate packages.

“...even though a majority wants Congress to pass some version of reform...”

Sadly; the lazy, starstruck, braindead, selfish dumb-masses are really out there demanding “just pass something!”

God help us...

This is simply impossible. Why, the renowned Washington Post and the respected ABC network just called up a thousand people at random, and nearly all of them love Obama and his health care plans and hate the GOP. I can’t imagine why Fox news can’t figure this out.

“54 percent is opposed”
Do we have a grammatical error? “54 percent are opposed” sounds better.

Apparently Rasmussen failed to consult the real polling experts over at the Washington Compost and Arabic Broadcasting Network (ABC) who determined that over 50% of Americans want a Government Health Insurance plan. Of course only Welfare slackers, the habitually unemployed, fired ACORN sex trade advisors, and illegal immigrants were home and not busy watching "The Price Is Right" when ABC called.

These polls are interesting but the surest way to put the brakes on this is for the Dems to truly feel threatened at the polls. Some mid term wins will go a hell of a lot further than these phone calls.

We lose VA and NJ, like I suspect we will, the Dems will consider it a green light to go to town.

I don’t think the poll means that the people want any old thing passed. They don’t want the proposals congress has ginned up. They want rational, efficient reform that saves money and continues good care and doesn’t harm seniors.

The fact that the people largely don’t support the current bills should tell you that they have indeed looked at the situation and have a definitive idea of what they want to happen.

How can that be? I just read an ABC poll that says the MAJORITY of voters want the "public option" (aka, Socialized Medicine, Single Payer, driving private insurance out of business).

The Democrats in Congress don’t care what the public thinks. They have promised their constituency a health reform bill, and there’s going to be one, period.

We are supposed to believe that Congress represents us, even though we keep getting reminders that they don’t care what we think. The same thing happened with immigration amnesty, which was opposed by something like 75% of the public. We lucked out when that got sidetracked.

But Fox isn’t a news org - according the the Mao loving Anita Dunn of the Obama administration. And the socialists know what we should think about all things, silly!

Polls like this are invalid. There is a reliable tendency in the general population to answer questions in the affirmative. It is called acquiescent set and occurs when the person being questioned has no strong opinion.

Picture someone with no clue, shrugging and saying "yeah, I guess, OK," and you have the 54% of the American public who allegedly want to screw over their own doctors, stand in line for weeks to get service, and sacrifice their own health care.

If this is what the people of this country want ? Then let them have it. The unintended consequences & costs will destroy the Nation. But who are we to refuse the Welfare State its due ?

http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/elections2/election_2009/new_jersey/election_2009_new_jersey_governor

However, the race may be even closer than those numbers suggest. When voters are asked their initial choice, 38% name Christie, 38% Corzine, and 16% prefer Daggett. But 57% of Daggett’s supporters say they could change their minds before election day. That dwarfs the number of swayable Corzine and Christie voters.

Among supporters of the governor, 27% say they could still change their minds while just 20% of Christie supporters say the same. A plurality of swayable Daggett supporters and undecided voters indicate they are likely to end up voting for Christie.
+++++++++++++++

If you like Christie better than Corzine, it’s still looks like she’s got a chance in NJ.

Well I’m not sure about that.

I don’t see people marching on Washington for the government to pass anything related to healthcare. Until I see real activity from average citizens forcing the issue I put the the idea they want some kind of reform in the column with wanting to win a million dollars, be young forever, eat a gallon of ice cream and not gain a pound. Just a dream but not something they are serious about.
