(HITPIECE ALERT)
http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE59F5GX20091017SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Wal-Mart Stores Inc is taking its ferocious price cutting into new markets as the economy shows hints of recovery.

I like shopping at Wal-Mart because it pisses off the liberals.
How about that fictional comment about the economy showing signs of recovery.
Green shoots! Green shoots!
My wife and I both suffer from allergies that require Zyrtec. Other antihistamines don’t work as well. The local Navy clinic (I’m USN Retired) doesn’t carry it, so we have to buy it. The Wal-Mart Equate brand is about half the price of real Zyrtec. Just one example of savings at Wal-Mart.
Here is another example. I bought a couple of fishing rods and reels for $60 a set. Found the exact ones at Bass Pro Shop for $99.
And Wal-Mart doesn’t necessarily kill the local competition. Two years ago a Supercenter opened near us, right next to a K-Mart and across from a Food Lion. Both stores still carry on a good amount of business. I think some people go to the K-Mart to get away from the Wal-Mart crowds. I do. And the Food Lion has better meats and produce.
Example purchase Kyolic (garlic supplement)$23.99 at GNC, $8 at Walmart... same thing
Wal-Mart’s Great Value brand is being poured onto the shelves. I won’t touch the stuff. It does not have a nation of origin on any of the item I’ve examined. I’m assuming the stuff is produced in communist china or assembled in the U.S. with chi/com components.
The defense of Wal-Mart, on FR, is as avid as was the defense of “W”. Think about what that support brought us-Obama.
Bentonville, Arkansas is the newest province of communist china.
Does the bottle stated the nation of origin? Because the bottle discloses the manufacture’s business address doesn’t mean that is where it is made.
It specifically says “Manufactured by: Leiner Health Products” etc., etc.
That said, the ‘national brand’? The one sold under the Centrum name by Wyeth? Yeah, seems that’s actually made in China.
I use several supplements and many companies used terms like: "manufactured for" and "manufactured by" without saying precisely where the product was manufactured.
China has become very big in producing supplements and prescription drugs:
Chinese pharmaceutical companies also have taken over much of the world market in the production of antibiotics, analgesics, enzymes and primary amino acids. According to an industry group, China makes 70 percent of the world's penicillin, 50 percent of its aspirin and 35 percent of its acetaminophen (often sold under the brand name Tylenol), as well as the bulk of vitamins A, B12, C and E.

I think some US companies buy the bulk materials and still encapsulate in the US.
Economic stimulation that is not fake. You and your wife have 52 dollars to spend at a restaurant, hardware store or a movie that you otherwise would not have had.
Walmart just sucks and hurts local economies. (/sarcasm)
That's the critical issue. You have to be really careful if you don't want the questionable stuff they sell from China.
Sure, the prices are great, but the ammo shelves are bare. I haven't seen a box of .45 ACP in any Walmart since the election.
On the other hand, the only .45 I have been able to find is the Winchester white box at Wal-mart.
Where’s the little “Green Shoots” urchin?
WalMart carries something Made in the USA? I’ll have to check them out again.
Can someone explain to my why the left hates the insurance companies for being too expensive AND hates Walmart for being too cheap?
Who or what is a Jurnos?
They just got a bunch in at the local one.
You should, there’s a surprising amount of stuff there from the US.
