Just saw another ad by the Humane Society. They do wonderful work and help animals who have been abandoned or treated cruelly.
I hate these ads, not for their poor taste, they are actually done well and are a needed message about treating animals with love and humanely.
What bothers me about the ads is the starkness of the cruelty man exacts on an animal who loves unconditionally and is always happy to see you.
They don't care what kind of day you had or how much money you make. The're always happy when you walk in the front door.
And yet there are humans just so sick, they would beat, starve or maime an animal, so they can exert their power over an animal who has no defense and will still love.
Is this love a sign of God, who loves unconditionally no matter your faults or defects?
I am forced to turn away when these ads run as my eyes well up with tears.
I cannot believe someone would do the things to these animals who would love you and do what you want. They are your friend and want nothing more than to be your companion, fulfill a void you didn't know you had and entertain you.
The pictures they show disgust me and I am not able to conjure up any qualification for the horror of the cruelty I see.
I smile at my pets to let them know yes, I was only gone 2 minutes and I am back. Sorry you missed me.
I smile at my pets to let them know I don't care what they do, they are just so damn cute and beautiful.
I smile at my pets when the want to play retrieve.
I smile at my pets when they do their natural job and run toward the street after a squirrel and then upon my command sit or heel. I then hug them for being so good and alive.
I smile at my pets for some of the dumb things they do because well... it's funny and amazing.
I smile when they bug me to scratch them and then watch as they go into some weird frenzy and I imagine them saying "Oh! Thank you. You have no idea how good that feels. Do it some more".
I smile because they are my responsibility and I love taking care of them, even if they want me play with them all the time.
I smile because they are God's gift to me and I know I must provide them love and care that will give them a healthy life and enliven their spirit.
Thanks for letting me rant.
Add Sarah McLachlan songs and I cry every time.
I can’t look at the ads either.
Where have you been? How things going?
Very nice rant. I feel the same way.
Exploitive? That is a laugh. I am the one being taken advantage of.
I have to talk like a girl because they like it.
I have to walk the dogs, because they like it. 3, 4, 5, 6 times a day.
I have to carefully check their food to ensure it is of the highest quality.
I spend $100 a month for food and toys for two dogs. Sometimes I explain to them that life would be easier for all of us if they had opposable thumbs so they could get a job and help out a little around here.
Apparently that would be a real hardship on all the sleeping they do.
I have no idea what the cost per year is for vets but it is a couple grand and the last two have exceeded $7,000 for operations due to cancer.
The cat is a little easier, just bossy. But same problem. She follows me around the house and meows, softly but she won't leave me alone.
Right now she is staring at me and probably thinking up some new thing for me to do.
LOL
If you a good idea for a better place to donate to, I would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks and I am feeling better. I think because of all the Freepers who also love animals and I am getting a ton of Freeper Mail.
What a baby! Who is the dog on the right? LOL
After the first two times, I cannot watch that commercial: I actually feel physical pain which turns to anger against people that could be so cruel.
My little boy is black and has perfect little white paws and look like gloves. His chest is open with white and he sits like a gentleman.
So I named him Rex Harrison.
His sister is a sable or blonde color and is blessed with extraordinary intelligence and poise. She is beautiful.
So I named her Grace Kelly.
Your kids look beautiful.
Thanks for the video.
Do you have any idea how long it takes to chew through six-point restraint???
I’m right there with ya...
I don’t trust people who don’t like animals; they’re missing a crucial empathy gene, or something.
We have 3 dogs and 3 cats and they are a joy!
This one caught me off guard. Usually they start with the song by Sarah McLachlan, Arms of an Angel and quickly turn the channel or leave the room.
This one didn’t have Sarah and hence my post.
I too share your feelings.
What’s really sad is the lack of commercials like these for the abortion of babies.
Talk about your heart really breaking.
Now a huge number of abortions performed in the U. S.
Well you are the neighbor.
Some one posted something earlier in the week and it made me think of you.
Can’t remember the post.
If you tell me where your owners keep you, I can sneak in and release you. LOL
You might want to look into this group. I've met people online who have adopted pets from the animal group but I have no personal knowledge about this particular organization.
P.S. I also hate those TV ads you're talking about. They make me physically ill.

Best Friends Animal Society - About Us
At the sanctuary
The Best Friends Animal Sanctuary at Angel Canyon, at the heart of the Golden Circle of national parks in southern Utah, is home on any given day to about 2,000 dogs, cats, and other animals, who come from shelters and rescue groups around the country for special care they can only receive at Best Friends.
Most of the animals who find their way to Best Friends have special physical or behavioral needs, and our expert staff of veterinarians, trainers and caregivers offer them all the help they require. Most of them are ready to go to good new homes after just a few weeks of special care. A few, who are too old or too sick, or who have suffered extra trauma, find a home and haven at the sanctuary, and are given loving care for the rest of their lives.
Around the country
Best Friends works with our members -- and with humane groups, individuals and entire communities -- to set up spay/neuter, shelter, foster and adoption programs in neighborhoods, cities, and states throughout the country. Through this work, Best Friends is helping to save and rehabilitate tens of thousands of animals each year.
Through the online Best Friends Network, the society reaches across the nation and around the world, helping local communities to rescue animals in distress and to create their own No More Homeless Pets communities.

Exactly.
funny a few months ago a friend and I struck a conversation with a fellow who might have been beneficial to our business. My friend started talking about her babies and this guy goes off on disliking dogs and cats. Even goes into reasons.
We decided to not do business with him not just for his dislike of animals but, for the temerity of sharing that with someone who clearly loves theirs.
He could have been graceful and said something nonplus “That’s great” “Good for you”
Thank you.
No kidding. I am amazed at the new picture they are beginning to show of babies in the womb.
They are using a fiver optic camera and the pictures are amazing.
There is no way you could sanction the taking of a baby if you see these pictures and movies.
