Just saw another ad by the Humane Society. They do wonderful work and help animals who have been abandoned or treated cruelly.
I hate these ads, not for their poor taste, they are actually done well and are a needed message about treating animals with love and humanely.
What bothers me about the ads is the starkness of the cruelty man exacts on an animal who loves unconditionally and is always happy to see you.
They don't care what kind of day you had or how much money you make. The're always happy when you walk in the front door.
And yet there are humans just so sick, they would beat, starve or maime an animal, so they can exert their power over an animal who has no defense and will still love.
Is this love a sign of God, who loves unconditionally no matter your faults or defects?
I am forced to turn away when these ads run as my eyes well up with tears.
I cannot believe someone would do the things to these animals who would love you and do what you want. They are your friend and want nothing more than to be your companion, fulfill a void you didn't know you had and entertain you.
The pictures they show disgust me and I am not able to conjure up any qualification for the horror of the cruelty I see.
I smile at my pets to let them know yes, I was only gone 2 minutes and I am back. Sorry you missed me.
I smile at my pets to let them know I don't care what they do, they are just so damn cute and beautiful.
I smile at my pets when the want to play retrieve.
I smile at my pets when they do their natural job and run toward the street after a squirrel and then upon my command sit or heel. I then hug them for being so good and alive.
I smile at my pets for some of the dumb things they do because well... it's funny and amazing.
I smile when they bug me to scratch them and then watch as they go into some weird frenzy and I imagine them saying "Oh! Thank you. You have no idea how good that feels. Do it some more".
I smile because they are my responsibility and I love taking care of them, even if they want me play with them all the time.
I smile because they are God's gift to me and I know I must provide them love and care that will give them a healthy life and enliven their spirit.
Thanks for letting me rant.

I have to look away when these commercials are on. It breaks my heart.
I turn the channel. I can’t stand it. I LOVE animals.
What makes me sad is how human beings that know better, treat God’s wonderful animals in this way. I would no like to be them when they stand before Him and account for their miserable lives. God will serve out perfect justice.
Hugs your way.
You are not alone.
Woof
Are these HSUS ads?
If so, they have an agenda beyond just helping animals.
I hear you...I tear up at those as well and cannot understand why people are so sick! I have to leave the room or turn the channel, if I don’t I’ll cry all day. My heart is broken at the inhumane treatment people can do to the innocents.
Unlike us, dogs see their Gods everytime they look at our faces. There are no purer souls than litle children and pets. I too find it hard to read stories of animal abuse and torture.
But then, similar things happen to little children, everyday, around the ocuntyr and world. And yes, those little children die loving the parents who abuse and kill them and society protects those murderers in the name of compassion.
As a species, if there is an involved higher power, His plan is mysterious because I am somewhat surprised we are allowed to continue
I do agree with you although I would like to add that it would be nice to see commercials against abortion. women and their doctors killing unborn children is far worse than anything a human does to an animal as sad as it is.
I don’t go to the humane society any more. The fees are too high. Now I get all my meat at the grocery store.
I can’t watch those ads. Too much heart hurt. Too painful.
I am really bothered by the one that was on a few minutes ago and I turned away but the vision of those poor things has me on the verge of tears.
I holding them back but, it just so awful and now that I posted this It’s making it worse.
I have no capacity for understanding or explaining that kind of cruelty.
I think maybe I should have let it go and not posted. Now I feel like crap and it’s a nice sunny day.
Criminy, this is gonna be a chick thread. I apologize for my last post. I’m outa here.
....I live in a poor rural county with no leash laws...the explosion of dogs and cats is quite literally eating some people out of house and home....we have a pretty good animal control dept but there’s more pets than there are people willing to adopt....it’s getting pretty bad....oh and BTW it’s not just small animals...we’re seeing more horses&mules/sheep&goats.
Still you would have to see these poor little babies.
It is not right.
I have friend who was watching Animal Cops a few years ago and they had some poor fellow who was just criminally neglected.
I have never seen so many ticks in my life and there must have hundreds. I was so mad and told my friend I can’t and won’t ever watch that program again.
Nothing wrong with the program, I just can’t deal with it.
Funny because I think of myself as being very strong but that...
How people can live with themselves, abusing animals, is beyond me.
I feel like making a donation. Do you have an idea of a good choice. For animals.
Thanks
I know, it breaks my heart and disgusts me too.
It helps me to remember that for every sick sob there are legions of caring people..
Was this an ad for your state or local humane society, or for the Humane Society of the US? If the latter, please be aware that while the local organizations do wonderful work for animals, the HSUS is little more than a very well-funded and slick ally of PETA. Their president has stated that he favors a “petless, meatless” society. He would like you to give up your beloved animals because human ownership of animals is exploitative, even in the most loving relationship. HSUS has an annual budget of $100 million, yet they do not run a single shelter or care for a single animal. They collected an enormous amount of money at the time of Katrina, yet nothing was expended upon the animals of Mississippi and Louisiana. Their warchest is dedicated to lobbying and effecting legislative change.
Be aware. Know where your checks are going. Many well-intentioned animal lovers mistakenly give money to HSUS, which intends ultimately to take their animals away.
