FYI...announcement regarding the alliance link to FreeRepublic.
God Bless this mission.
That’s great Jeff. Thanks Jim.
BTTT
How can I help?
Take a look at www.AmericasOwnersManual.com That might be useful.
Cordially,
Congressman Billybob
that’s good
Ahem. That is not in the constitution. The rights enumerated in the constitution, particularly the Bil of Rights, are not conditionally granted. Or any other verb you care to apply. Nor were they until the 20th century when the gun grabs began.
This group just wants to make the same mistake over again, leaving in the place the mechanisms by which our rights are being eroded, so that they can be eroded again.
A lot of good principles proposed here, but all it will do is rewind the clock a few years.
I propose the group follows their own logic: "Having been convicted of a felony, you no longer have a Second Amendment right." (Quite a 'right', no?):
- You may lose your First Amendment right (we don't want ex-cons assembling with their own, or possible predators going to church, or DUIs in bars).
- You may lose your Fourth Amendment right (druggies in particular profit from this, as do pornmeisters, and we cannot allow that).
- You should lose your Fifth Amendment right, particularly when the government doesn't like the outcome (remember the LA cops? Apply this especially to sex offenders who get acquitted at trial).
- You will lose your Eight Amendment right (especially for heinous crimes for which you really, really, to "have the punishment fit the crime").
But let's make things easy for the bureaucrats. Once convicted of *any* crime, you lose all these rights. And you may have them taken away if you're under suspicion. Or if you're a liberal.
Ping to all the Patriots on the gardening thread.
Excellent. Thanks for the post.
Very nice, Jeff! I’ve already signed up!
Many of the “12 principles” listed have nothing to do with the Constitution. Energy policy???
Yes, we urgently need to restore respect for, and application of, the principles spelled out in the US Constitution. But that doesn’t involve inventing a laundry list of “Constitutional principles” that would be as unrecognizeable to the framers of the Constitution as many of the leftist perversions of the Constitution which currently dominate the governnance of our nation.
PING!
AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN! AMEN!
JEFF, maybe you could pry one of the mugs loose from Neil. You’ve earned it, imho.
LOL.
Jeff, you and the others are good people but I’ve never understood this “Restore the Constitution” movement. What’s Constitutional is whatever the Supreme Court says it is. If you want to restore things that you beleive have been lost it can only be done 2 ways;
1. File federal lawsuits to get the SC to review, and hopefully decide in your favor, issues of unconstitutionality.
2. For #1 to work you need to make sure a person sympathetic to your opinions sits in the White House and elects judges of such nature.
Most of the public is oblivious to the true meaning of the contitution and always will be because they’re lazy and don’t care. Of course I understand that part of your program is to educate people but IMO you will never reach a success rate that could precipitate a large enough constitutional epiphany among the people to bring about the change that you desire.
Backing constitution enabled politicians is good but they will always be elected based on their positions on at least a dozen issues more important to the voters, bread and butter, taxes, abortion, etc.
I see the inherent value in your efforts but I don’t see any light at the end of the tunnel. Sometimes we waste a lot of good time, effot on money doing things that we like rather than things that could be most successful. Unfortunately I went down that path.
The only way to restore the Constitution is to clean out Washington DC.
I strongly suggest that any candidate endorsed be required to sign a “hardass” clause. This is because Washington, D.C. has evolved a powerful system to both coerce and bribe elected officeholders to abandon their most cherished beliefs and embrace the system.
Which, in Biblical terms was called “Selling your birthright for a mess of pottage.”
Through any number of schemes, congressmen are persuaded to “vote against something before they vote for it”, to wheel and deal, to be offered votes in exchange for their vote, and to be threatened with negative votes unless they vote for things. Their peers, lobbyists, foreign powers, journalists, and others all strive to corrupt them.
And once they bend even a little bit, they are broken. Their failing is held over their head as blackmail, and if no failing exists, then one is fabricated out of whole cloth. Every man is their enemy.
So what is a “hardass” clause? It means that they join together, hang together, in *not* being compromised. In a basic form, it was how the Contract With America worked. Simple ideas and beliefs, held on to with the tenacity of a pit bull.
At the time, the older Republicans abhorred the CWA, being they had been so compromised that they were afraid for standing for anything. So only the freshmen congressmen joined. But it gave them the strength and the courage to make positive change.
It will take many courageous people to restore the constitution of the United States. And as with the 300 Spartans standing against the might of the Persian Empire, these people will have to stand against villainy beyond their wildest dreams.
They will have to overthrow more than a century of federal expansion and impunity. They cannot just fight it to a standstill. They must tear down the unconstitutional edifice, leaving only those parts ordained by the founders. Certainly there will be left some of those pieces, that are truly good and needed, but they must be integrated into the constitution to retain their purpose.
And only the strongest of people, the “hardasses”, can hope to accomplish this monumental task.
Thought this might be important enough to ping everyone. FR is once again getting behind a real good conservative effort.
Sorry, but I don’t want to try to write a better Constitution. The left reportedly wants to call another constitutional convention. I’d be willing to attend that one, but only if armed and armored well enough to empty the place.
The Constitution we have was good enough until “progressives” began “tweaking” it. I’ll almost always vote with IAM-CR members, but I’ll hold to the old Constitution.
There is a Jeff Head there in NC.
Thanks for posting this.
