The aircraft carried one person each. One F-16 was able to land safely at Charleston AFB, and the pilot is being examined by Air Force medical personnel.
The location of the other F-16 and its pilot is unknown at this time. A search is underway involving the U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Navy and aircraft from Charleston AFB.
A board of officers will investigate the accident. As soon as additional details become available, they will be released.
Someone think of another plane so perfectly designed to carry nothing but the optimum amount of engine, fuel, armament, and a big supply of whoop ass.
Have the pilots names been released?
No.

Thanks for keeping us updated.
Doing what I can on non-mil info.
That’s a chore, thanks for the updates.
Prayers up for both pilots and their families.
The F16 is what the F15 would have been had they not decided to make the ‘15 a “do everything” machine instead of the superiority fighter it was designed to be.
I’ve no complaints on how it turned out since the F16 was brought into being to fill the hole, but I sure would have liked to see the F15 as a pure fighter as God intended it to be.
