Rescuers are tracking and chasing a "homemade flying saucer" that is in flight with a 6-year-old, by himself, on board.
The incident started this morning in Fort Collins when the boy got into the balloon-like device, which was built by an adult, and it came loose from a tether, according to the Larimer County Sheriff's Office.
The contraption could rise as high as 10,000 feet, the sheriff's office said.
The home-made flying saucer was last seen in flight over Weld County.
The sheriff's office is working the Federal Aviation Administration to determine how to best get the boy down.

See, I did it to myself.
I believed the Headline and didn’t read the Story at the link to find out the facts.

Looks like it may have had a hard landing—not a tree in sight. TV saying it may be down already. Rescue vehicles speeding to some destination.
His brother said he went in the ballon.
Something doesn’t seem right to me. A six year old boy weighs... what... 50 or 60 lbs? If that thing is only 20 feet in diameter I don’t think that’s enough helium to lift him. Maybe... but my hunch is no.
The way it’s floating and bobbing makes me wonder if it is empty.
At least... I hope it turns out he’s not in there. That’s the best outcome of this.
This thing isn’t a foot over 3k right now, I don’t care what the news is reporting
I hope he is really just down the street at a buddy’s house wathcing the whole thing on TV.
You sure did hear that — living a couple of miles from the US Weather Service and Storm Prediction Center, I thought some of the storm chasers would do almost anything but this takes the cake. Made to track storms and his son climbs into this?
Exactly what I just heard too...
Hard to contemplate if in fact a little boy is in this balloon..
I'm close to throwing up..
sw
Its not huge, smaller than a living room, 5 ft tall
This guy might be able to help:

[Id bet this thing will be down within 15 minutes.]
Even if it comes down slow, it would be a very rough landing for a child!
