Obama isn't a naturalized citizen. He didn't immigrate to the United States and take part in the naturalization process, a process that leaves miles and miles of documentation. Obama was, by all reasonable evidence, born in the United States.

You are right that I downloaded an English translation of Vattel that was not available at the writing of the Constitution.

I find it interesting that you link to a site but then do no critical thinking of the information that they present.

They make a big deal that citizen is only used once in the sentence. To me this is just an issue of how we would phrase the thought in English vs. French. It is still clear to me that the framers relied on Vattel. And Vattel defined a Natural (implied citizen) as one born of citizen parents in the country.

Until Independence everyone in the Colonies were subjects of the crown and so jus sanguinis did not apply.

That the framers meant to use a Vattel basis where the Natural born must be not only born on the soil but of jus sanquinis (born of citizen parents) is the inclusion of the out that they gave themselves to be President. They were mainly native born but they were born as English subjects.

So I do not think that this is an established fact. Just a hint you would do better to link me to some scholarly article and let me decide for myself. Or to case law if applicable.

The "big deal" is that while the "story" may have now changed, in light of inconvenient facts, the very basis for contending that Vattel's defintion was relied upon by the Founders was the contention that he used the term "natural born citizen" - which John Jay (allegedly) copied when sending his letter recommending that requirement (whereupon a link to a later edition of Vattel's work was provided as proof). But, of course, John Jay couldn't have copied from an edition published 10+ years after his letter.

With respect to the original French & online translation to "The natural or indigenous are those born in the country of citizen parents," (a) the term "natural born citizen does not appear; and, more importantly (b) "natural" is equated with "indigenous" (i.e., native) - and another foundational claim is that "natural born" citizen means something different than "native born" citizen. According to Vattel, they're the same thing. Vattel makes no distinction here - or elsewhere - between the "natural" and the "native" citizen.

Also, my Birther "delusions" as you put it, tell me that:

1. Nobody really knows if Barry is a naturalized citizen, or a US citizen at all for that matter. Citizenship is conferred to a child (as is his last name) by a child's father. Couple that with the fact that this particular child's mother wasn't even old enough to confer citizenship to her son, even if he was actually born in Hawaii.

2. Barry is DEFINITELY not Natural Born. His own admission of British citizenship blows this one out of the water.

The only ones that are delusional are those of you who refuse to accept these facts and continue to act as apologists for the Usurper.
