(CNN) South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has always enjoyed a little back-and-forth with belligerent audiences.
He was at it again on Monday night as he faced down an angry town hall crowd in Greenville packed with libertarians and Tea Party activists who accused at the Republican senator of ditching conservative principles by working with Democrats on issues like climate change and voting to send Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.
But Graham stressed a mantra he's repeated many times since his friend John McCain lost the presidential election last November that the GOP must reach out to different constituencies, or face extinction.
"I'm not going to leave the Republican Party," Graham said when one questioned asked him why he hasn't yet joined the Democrats. "I'm going to grow it. We're not going to be the party of angry white guys."
His comments were met with a salvo of boos and shouts of "Ron Paul!"

So you’re all for La Raza, MS13, and the ‘reconquista de aztalan’, eh?
Troll, get lost.
They are the party of the gutless wonders. Afraid to stand up for what is right.
As far as lefties are concerned, why vote for spineless liberal wanna be`s when they can have dedicated real ones, and given the anger displayed towards the statist beltway crowd by conservatives AND so called moderates, as exemplified by the Tea Party Movement, its not looking too good for you liberal GOP Kool Aiders.
Question is,will conservatives be able to wrest control of and save your party or will there be an exodus towards a third party. As an independent, I think its going to be an interesting battle for the soul of your formally conservative party, enjoy the fireworks Kool Aider.
” As far as Sarah Palin supporting amnesty, I’ve seen nothing to support that except where she was quoted during McCain’s campaign.”
Me either, and I find that strange. Why isn’t she clarifying this...she has NO problem voicing her views on everything else....if she doesn’t think that way and why is she contributing to McCain, Graham...the biggest amnesty supporters out there? I’ve given Palin PLENTY of support, voted for her, and will again IF she clears this up. As it is, all we have to go on is that she’s for amnesty, against enforcement and deportation, ie....just the opposite of where the conservative/US citzen base is, in other words, clueless on this issue.
Interview with Latino Univision OCTOBER 21, 2008:
Palin:. We - our policy - John McCain has been so clear with his policy and it makes a lot of sense too. We secure our borders first. But then with a comprehensive approach we must deal humanely with those who are here, and we must allow the steps to be taken to protect the families of those who are here, maybe as illegal immigrants today.....”
UNIVISION: Talking about - still with immigration - ICE has arrested and deported almost five thousand undocumented immigrants in the last year, separated many Hispanic families. Would you support stopping these raids until comprehensive immigration reform could be passed in Congress?
Palin: Well, the unfortunate thing of course about the raids is that it does affect the families involved here. Parents and children are separated and thats tragic. (No, that is by choice of the alien, Sarah - they can take their kids and we pay for it!)
Univision: To clarify, so you support a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants?
Sarah Palin: I do because I understand why people would want to be in America.
Univision: As governor, how do you deal with them? Do you think they all should be deported?
Sarah Palin: There is no way that in the US we would roundup every illegal immigrant - there are about 12 million of the illegal immigrants - not only economically is that just an impossibility but thats not a humane way anyway to deal with the issue that we face with illegal immigration.”
BTW,if you`re still trolling your replies,I`m one of those non-whites you say your party is trying to recruit, too bad I`m a CONSERVATIVE!
What is it like to be so ignorant, delusional and wrong?
Bye Jerry, I told you last thread you were going to be toast. Just couldn’t help yourself could you? Look at you now, burnt to a crisp!
I don’t usually dance on people’s graves, but with you I’m going to make a special exception. Burn RINO Burn, Disco Inferno, Burn RINO Burn, Burn That RINO Down...
Gosh, that’s terrible. (big grin)
