(CNN) – South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham has always enjoyed a little back-and-forth with belligerent audiences.
He was at it again on Monday night as he faced down an angry town hall crowd in Greenville packed with libertarians and Tea Party activists who accused at the Republican senator of ditching conservative principles by working with Democrats on issues like climate change and voting to send Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court.
But Graham stressed a mantra he's repeated many times since his friend John McCain lost the presidential election last November — that the GOP must reach out to different constituencies, or face extinction.
"I'm not going to leave the Republican Party," Graham said when one questioned asked him why he hasn't yet joined the Democrats. "I'm going to grow it. We're not going to be the party of angry white guys."
His comments were met with a salvo of boos and shouts of "Ron Paul!"

The polls say otherwise. Ron Paul didn’t win a single state in the GOP primary. You Paulestinians make a whole lot of noise, but there just aren’t that many of you.

His constituents just reelected him in a landslide. The Ron Paul rabble in the crowd are hardly representative of the good people of South Carolina. Careful about associating yourselves with such dreck.
Let’s see. Which “republicans” have lost elections in 2006 and 2008? McCain and a bunch of “moderates”.
And talk about a walking contradiction. You say you want the “republican” party to be all inclusive but tell those of us who disagree with you to stay in the wilderness.
You’re typical of the Graham types. We disagree with you so you come up with a list of names to call us. Sorta’ like the democrats AND Graham. Someone disagrees with him and he calls them “angry white men”. I guess his democrat takling points from Pelosi.
Allowing people like you to join Reagan’s party was our first mistake. You remember Reagan. He was the true conservative who got plenty of “moderate” votes. Stay where you are with the other liberals. We don’t want you OR Graham sitting on a fence trying to decide which way to fall. As for me, I’ll stand on principle. I’ll never again vote for the lessor of two evils.

Jerry’s tactics worked so well in 2006 and 2008. The GOP officially took its last breathe with the Snowe job today. A stupid party run by morons.
JerryP says we need the Hispanic vote. I wonder how he plans on getting it. McCain and Graham offered amnesty and they still voted for Obama.
It amazes me how dumb some people are. They say they want a 2 party system yet in a debate with a democrat all they can say is “I agree”. Why would a democrat vote for a new democrat when he’s comfortable with the old one.
It’s a one party cartel. It’s a complete farce. Angry white men like Jerry don’t appreciate the peons taking away their looting privileges.
The GOP has gone the way of the Whigs. You can’t argue with fools. Insults are all the GOP has left in their Democratic playbook. Lindshay is reduced to name calling. He knows he doesn’t have one bit of fact to stand on.

I can't tell you the number of people who a year ago labeled RP as "a nut" -- until the economy crashed just like Ron Paul said that it would; until the Tea Parties started, until there was more than just Ron Paul, but rather a slate of Campaign for Liberty candidates -- Conservatives and libertarian, standing sided by side independent of Party.

And your Party is dying, losing numbers by the day -- either dying from old age, or from desertion. You've reached a dead-end & you know it, so you are jumping ship like rats on the values that this country was founded on. And what's worse -- you're proud of it.
And then, after betraying us all, they send total morons like you to alienate what's left. You couldn't do better if you were from the DNC -- and I am still not so sure that you aren't.
There are a slew of Western and Midwestern states that can be won once the GOP loses the angry old white southern face it has been stuck with for years. Plus, the South itself won’t be so Southern much longer. Another decade of Hispanic and Northern immigration as well as the replacement of the old bigot guard with the more enlightened reconstructed younger generation will take care of that.
