Microsoft sends biggest patch on record Tue Oct 13, 2009 4:03pm EDT
SEATTLE (Reuters) - Microsoft Corp issued its biggest software patch on record on Tuesday to fix a range of security issues in its programs, including the yet-to-be-released Windows 7 operating system.
In a monthly update sent to users of its software, Microsoft released 13 security bulletins, or patches, to address 34 vulnerabilities it identified across its Windows, Internet Explorer, Silverlight, Office and other products.
It said six of the patches were high priority and should be deployed immediately. The patches -- which update software to write over glitches -- are designed to protect users from hackers or malicious software downloaded from the Internet.

Yep, I just checked. 13 in all.
Linux is starting to look GOOD!!!
I dunno, Fedora has been rolling out some impressive patch loads lately also, and not all of them go on smoothly. I still fill better with linux generally though.
I used Linux Ubuntu for a while - nice OS, and run without any glitches. The only complaint I have is that updating certain types of software on it was a royal pain in the @ss.
Microsoft must send these out by region or something. Auto update hadn’t notified me of any updates, but I went to Microsoft Updates there 13 plus two more for Microsoft Works.
Why? Because MS is actually fixing their problems before they become an issue? Man some people are too hard to please or are just full of it.
my laptop automatically got it this afternoon..............
I just did mine manually a few moments ago. As of early this morning, they did not have these but now they do.
It was a piece of cake, really, and did not take very long.
damn
It’s great that a few months ago, someone caught and plugged an eight year old hole in the Linux kernel that would allow anyone to get kernel privileges. Oops.
Linux is still vastly more virusproof than Windows, but we can’t let our guard down.
Windows is a steaming pile.
No way around it. No point in trying to polish it.
Nice. Is there a wallpaper sized version of that?
BUMP!
