Looks like those little Honduran soccer guys are holding their own against the US in their World Cup qualifier tonight. 0-0 at the 1/4 point.
No television coverage, you have to follow it on the USSoccer.com website's matchtracker. This could be a big night for both teams.
Ironic. In the circumstances, I’m not sure who to cheer for.
I am totally dis-interested in sports.
I Love those who cherish Freedom and Independence.
Therefore I am rooting for Honduras. (do not care who wins the game, as long as Honduras remains a free people)
Well, if Costa Rica would just lose, we could end up tied and it’d be fine. Unfortunately, CR’s up 1-0 at the moment.
The Matchtracker feed died, apparently, but there’s Twitter coverage at http://twitter.com/ussoccer.
omnisport.tv has acquired most of the legal licenses to qualifiers, too. I watched Ireland-Italy there today. It’s a pay site, but cheaper than a soccer pub trip.
Go Honduras. Stay strong. Fight for freedom. Don’t let our temporary leaders sell you into slavery under Hugo-lite.
Still holding their own, 1-1 game in the 2nd half. And dittos to all that other stuff, too.
GOOOOALLLLLL! Casey does it again! 2-1 USA!
LANDON!!!!!!!!
3-1 Yanks!
If it lasts, we’re a lock for South Africa.
3-2 now, 10 minutes left.
Honduras not giving up. Ten minutes left, 3-2 (US) now.
Damn, goal.com servers are overloaded.
Pavon missed a penalty in the 87th minute.
Phew, it’s over. South Africa here we come.
Final 3-2. US qualifies for the 2010 World Cup!
Honduras has two shots at qualifying. If we beat Costa Rica on Wednesday, and they beat El Salvador (which would thrill me for political reasons), they’re in. Barring that, they’ll be in a playoff game with a South American team. So brave Honduras may have something to celebrate soon. Actually, they should be pretty darn proud of themselves anyway, they gave a good account and almost tied the game in the final minutes.
Mark my words, USA will win world cup 2014.
It’s good to see the men’s team doing well.
