As I said, my ministering is in the form of tax payments. The government has more information on where it is needed than I do, and it can certainly reach more people than I can.

From my research into worldviews, this

my ministering is in the form of tax payments. The government has more information on where it is needed than I do, and it can certainly reach more people than I can.

is the worldview, assumptions, and view of government that a LEFTIST has.

That gov't knows enough to spend our money better than a local entity. That those in power are inherently better able to use the resources than a local entity.

Of course, without faith, you wouldn't trust a church, or God, for that matter, to make sure that the resources you "donate" (like taxes are donated, ha) go where they are needed and will be multiplied. I guess you have to put your faith somewhere, and it's pretty clear that yours is in the government.

And THAT's the problem, right there.

The liberal Vicki Imogene interpretation of "What Would Jesus Do" simply allows the heedless and lazy to sidestep their personal obligation to care for the poor and needy by claiming that the government can do it 'better'. (Against every sort of evidence to the contrary, btw, but that's not relevant to the point here).

God did not command that you give "X Dollars" to the poor. He said, though, that you must give - not some faceless government bureaucrat who takes a huge chunk of your tax dollars for himself before any of it helps a poor person. If you can't tithe because of your obligations (including your tax burden), give what you can. If you don't have any money, give of your time.

Thinking that enforced tax on others for the benefit of politically favored groups somehow constitutes 'charity' violates any number of Biblical principles -- including 'render unto Caesar', 'he who will not work shall not eat', 'the Lord loveth a cheerful giver', the principle of subsidiarity, and of course 'thou shalt not steal'.

Really Stuart, from a Christian perspective, that is a complete and total cop-out. Is that REALLY what you think Jesus asked you to do?
