Bummer means the “awesome God” of socialism and other lefty mischief in the “blue states” (they really ought to be called red, but we’re stuck with the convention now).

It must be tough for Zero to avoid slipping up and referring to God as allah.

2 Corinthians 2:14-17
14 But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ's triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
16 To the one we are an aroma that brings death; to the other, an aroma that brings life. And who is equal to such a task?
17 Unlike so many, we do not peddle the word of God for profit. On the contrary, in Christ we speak before God with sincerity, as those sent from God.

Don’t confuse the historical recognition of a human practice with condoning or supporting of it.
Slavery is also recognized, but, biblically, all humans are created in God’s image, and slavery is not condoned.

Taking the name of the Lord in vain has long been believed to use it as a curse word. I think it also means to claim to be a Christian when one does not follow what Jesus taught. Idolatry is formulating your own religion, making for oneself a belief system of convenience, even if you call it Christianity or by some other name. Saying such things as “God is not so mean as to separate me and my loved ones in heaven and hell, etc.” You either believe the Bible or you don’t, IMO.

Issac was married to only one woman and seemed relatively happy, whereas none of the plural marriages in the OT were conducive to happiness.

"Does Obama use God's name in vain?"
Well considering who and what Obama considers himself to be, I would say he does use God's name in vain every time he says: "Hello I am Barrak Obama."

Have you ever heard the argument that “a loving God wouldn’t threaten people with damnation for not obeying him”?
That’s like saying that a father is “threatening” his kids with broken legs if they jump off the roof.
The consequences are due to the rules, not due to the “threatener”.
