(CBS) This is going to come as a surprise to some but the world did not end Friday!
From what I heard all week, a lot of people thought it might if the President flew to Copenhagen and failed to bring home the Olympics.
Well, he went. He asked. He failed.
It was not even close.
So he came home. Washington spent most of the week, gnashing its teeth about whether he should have gone. Republicans accused him of dereliction of duty. Some in his own party shuddered at the possible humiliation of it all.

Yeah, you just keep telling yourself all those warm and fuzzy things, Bob.
Nice try, Bob Schieffer.
Obozo and his worshippers hare developing a tolerance to failure.
They’re becoming mediocrity junkies.
"There's been no Olympic Armageddon.
Now go back to your lives, citizens."
Does Schieffer really believe that the whole trip was some little staffer’s idea? Come on, Bob! This was all ego.
Sounds like Bob is setting up some lowly staffer to be the fall guy.
this is the best laugh us conservatives have had in weeks........thank you ‘bams.
Chicago ain’t the place for the summer Olympics.
Chicago ain’t the place for the winter Olympics.
Chicago, in a good year, might be the place for a two-week-bender-in-the-spring Olympics.
But that’s about it.
No Bob, but “jumped the shark” is going to be replaced by “flew to Copenhagen”.
Perfect.
“Washington spent most of the week, gnashing its teeth about whether he should have gone.”
Couldn’t miss the opportunity to point out a comma splice in a CBS article. Idiots...
No, “ARMAGEDDON!” is for San Francisco Pride Weekend.
So have they gone through the full lefty feeling spectrum?
Arrogance - Thinking the games were in the bag because O and O-ette went to Denmark.
Shock - At losing in the first round.
Sadness - At the IOC for not recognizing the greatness of the O like they do.
Disgust - At the right for laughing at their dashes egos
And now acceptance that the Olympics were no big deal and the world goes on.
>> “This is going to come as a surprise to some but the world did not end Friday!”
In other news:
“Eight American soldiers and two Afghans have been killed in an attack on two outposts in remote eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said on Sunday.”
With the distraction of the Olympics out of the Administration’s mind, is there time now for a decision regarding the resources the Military has requested for Afghanistan?
It’s even better if you say “Copenhagen” lie a Euroweenie:
Copen-haaahh-gen, not Copen-hay-gen.
I just don’t know how I would mange the process of thinking without CBS telling me how to do it.
Bless you CBS for correcting my doubleplusungood wrong thinking.
No, There's Been No Olympic Armageddon /Baghdad Bob
There, better1
Sounds to me like it was VJ’s call.

Senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett (one of the many Chicagoans Obama brought with him to DC), said, “The intelligence that we had from the U.S. Olympic Committee and Chicago bid team was that it was very close and therefore well worth our efforts. The message was that...a personal appeal from the president would make a huge difference.”
