That is only a sidebar to what happened on Friday, with an Olympic bid from Chicago that President Obama shouldn't have gone near. This wasn't the President's fight. For a smart guy, he does some dumb things sometimes.
We can talk about winners and losers all we want to now that it is over. The biggest winners of all are the people of Chicago, because their city doesn't have to plunge itself into debt to host the Olympics. This is the kind of winner New York was despite Michael Bloomberg's insane quest to get the 2012 Games, which eventually - and blessedly - went to London.
It is always the same bill of goods, though, whether it is coming from Bloomberg and then-Deputy Mayor Dan Doctoroff or from a Chicago bid committee that included the President, the First Lady and Oprah Winfrey, the Other first lady:

I’d think the IOC weighed the chances of Brazil (Rio) being able to come through, vs. that of Chicago. Brazil won, as well as being the first chance to hold an Olympics in South America.
Can't say I disagree. Obama definitely denigrated the office making his questionable push for Chicago. I began to wonder if he was President of the US or head of the Chicago Chamber of Commerce.

Because Daley was gonna spread the losses to all IL taxpayers. That was becoming more apparent with every phony baloney speech. He'd pull the crap like he's done with 'us' having to pay for HIS crappy, broken down, crime-ridden, CTA system (mass transit).

I’m kind of surpirsed that a world that seats the worst human rights violators on the Human Rights Council of the UN didn’t put their Olympics in America’s most corrupt city. I know, New York and New Orleans are competing with Chicago for that title. And I haven’t forgotten Detroilet.
