Looks like theres at least one high-profile Republican who wont be voting for Sarah Palin should she run in 2012. Steve Schmidt, John McCains top political strategist in 2008, told a forum in Washington today that nominating Palin as the partys next presidential nominee would be catastrophic for Republicans. I think that she has talents, but my honest view is that she would not be a winning candidate, Schmidt said. In fact, were she to be the nominee, we would have a catastrophic election result.

I am pretty sure she has given up on 2012 and now wants to just be a conservative rock-star. Given that, let the groupies have their wet dreams. It will be their disappointment,
She seems to be helping, at least not hurting, unless I missed something.

Steve Schmitt, you are wrong. The “catastrophic election result” was in 2008. It would have been even worse had Sarah NOT been on the ballot. More states would have went to BO.

Couldn’t happen soon enough to a nicer bunch.

I am a Sarah fan, but I wonder why she chose to use the word rogue in the title of her book. Multiple definitions of the word are not flattering.

We don't know who's even going to be interested in running, but F those attacking her from the Republican side. I hope professionally they are gasping their last political breaths.

I think instead of bashing other Republican candidates for president, Mr.Schmidt needs to promote his favorite candidate instead. Find someone who would fit his values the best.

Steve Schmidt, John McCains top political strategist in 2008, told a forum in Washington today that nominating Palin as the partys next presidential nominee would be catastrophic for Republicans. No, the catastrophe has already befallen the Republicans, and it was the final term of W, followed by the catastrophic nomination of Juan McCain as president, with the equally catastrophic Steve Schmidt as his top strategist.
Time to recover and rebuild from the catastrophe of McCain and Schmidt in 2008.
It's astonishing how many of the architects of the catastrophe have the gall to present themselves as the answer to all the party's problems. About time to hear from Colin Powell again.

Mrs. Palin is a direct threat to the D.C. establishment. I wonder if Schmidt believes that McCain would have fared better if perhaps they had chosen a different VP nominee?
Mr. Schmidt seems to me to be another person who doesn't get it and does not understand her appeal to the average American.
She certainly would wreak havoc upon the “moderates” and “centrists” currently running the show in the GOP. There are plenty of vested interests on the right that will do whatever is necessary to insure Mrs. Palin does not run in 2012, if she's inclined to run.
There are a lot of doubters on the right and among independents concerning Mrs. Palin, but with 3 years to state her case, I believe she will have the strongest chance win the 2012 election away from our Totus.
Imagine the two of them debating. I can honestly see no way for him to win even though, as usual, the moderator would be a left leaning Obama supporter. I would love to see this happen in the worst way.

This from the McCain camp -- with McCain losing by a margin of 2-to-1 in electoral votes in 2008.
It would seem that the McCain strategists' strategies were very 'catastrophic' in 2008.
