This morning on Squawk Box, Joe Kernen played contrarian to the New York Times' David Brooks. Brooks' column today, titled "The Wizard of Beck," is "the story of media mavens who claim to represent a hidden majority but who in fact represent a mere niche - even in the Republican Party." Brooks writes:
Just months after the election and the humiliation, everyone is again convinced that Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity and the rest possess real power. And the saddest thing is that even Republican politicians come to believe it. They mistake media for reality. They pre-emptively surrender to armies that don't exist.
CNBC's Kernen doesn't see it that way: "David Brooks is a conservative? You tell Rush that his $100M a year, or whatever he makes, isn't real."

Hahahaa excellent quote.
LOLOL!!! Lifestyles of the dumb and clueless.....
Conservatives are intellectually curious and seek information from sources they trust.....Rush, Beck, etc
Liberals are not intellectually curious, hence they do not even want to listen to those who espouse similar views for fear of hearing something that does not fit with their world-view.
The election proved that it is YOUR vision of the republican party that doesn’t exist, Brooks.
Joe Kernan is still an idiot. Unkemp idiot.
I saw him trash biotech stockpicks he obviously knew nothing about, Cramer with hair...and this guy used to be in medicine? I will not tune in and put one red cent in t their pocket. Not one.
The election proved that it is YOUR vision of the republican party that doesn’t exist, Brooks.
Wow. Some people really have never been outside of NYC. They should actually visit America once in a while.
The checked pants country club Republicans (thank you Michael Savage for this phrase - it is so fitting!) will have the long knives out for conservatives who will be remaking the party over the next three years.
They see their power and influence slipping away even now. McCain was their hero, and he was a failure.
For years, you have insisted that you show us violence, filth, and Anti-American propaganda because "it is what our viewers want." Clearly, when faced with evidence of what your viewers really want, your response is to cover your ears and go "YAH YAH YAH bigoted RACISTS YAH YAH YAH!"
...da truff will set yu fwee
I don’t know, maybe we should ask Van Jones.
Brooks is not a conservative. A bunch of these token conservatives are not real conservatives. Like Rod Dreher, Jow Scar and others.
Liberals have a bumper sticker mentality but the one that truly applies to them is “Ignorance is Bliss.”
So that is a clue to how the Democratic (socialist) Party of America justifies their blatant disregard for the American people...their constituents. This is how they feel they are "rulers" instead of representatives. They don't believe their armies of constituents even exist and that Republicans are fools for listening to their constituernts.
Is 1.5 million people an illusion, Chris?
CNN, MSNBC are redundant to “Baghdad Bob” Gibbs. At least, FOX is right half the time.
I’ve always loved Squawk Box and Joe Kernan. Seems like a genuine, no-nonsense guy.
I heard Joe Kernen this morning... He did say something like David Brooks is conversative to the NY Times...that’s not saying much.
There are many of us out here who are so sick and tired of government intruding on our lives. I believe the majority of voters did NOT vote for MORE intrusion. McCain was by no means conservative enough for me. Personally, I voted for Sarah and would have had a hard time voting for just McCain.
