Warden Message: Afghanistan Travel Concerns: Kabul to Logar Province
CONSULAR AFFAIRS BULLETINS
South / Central Asia - Afghanistan 29 Sep 2009
U.S. Embassy Kabul issued the following Warden Message September 29, 2009:
The U.S. Embassy has received information that, as of late September 2009, Taliban members in Logar Province, Afghanistan, were planning on an unspecified date to ambush and capture unidentified Americans who routinely travel between Kabul City and Logar Province. The Taliban reportedly intend to follow the Americans vehicle from Kabul and stop the car en route. The U.S. Embassy urges Americans who travel between Kabul City and Logar Province to exercise additional caution if traveling in the specified area.
We remind American citizens of the continuing threats outlined in the current Travel Warning for Afghanistan and Worldwide Caution. The full text of each can be found at http://travel.state.gov. Updated information may also be obtained by visiting the American Embassys website http://usembassy.state.gov/afghanistan/ or by contacting the Embassy at usconsulkabul@state.gov. U.S. travelers may also obtain up-to-date information on security conditions by calling 1-888-407-4747 toll-free in the United States and Canada or, outside the United States and Canada, on a regular toll line at 1-202-501-4444. These numbers are available from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays). Americans are also encouraged to read the Country Specific Information for Afghanistan, available on the Embassys website at http://kabul.usembassy.gov, and also at http://travel.state.gov.
The U.S. Embassy is located at Great Masood Road between Radio Afghanistan and the Ministry of Public Health (the road is also known as Bebe Mahro or Airport Road) in Kabul. Americans who find themselves in cases of extreme emergency in Afghanistan may contact the Embassy operator via 0700-10-8000 or the Consular Section via mobile at 0700-20-1908. The American Citizens Service section is open for non-emergency services from 8am to 4:30pm, Sunday to Thursday, excluding holidays.

Well now, years have gone by and time marches on. So, what’s new in LOGAR?
As you can see there are foreign fighters in Logar.
I wonder if any of these foreign fighters are returning to the USA or Canada when they are done in Logar?
Oh well, time will tell.
