Secret Plan to Pass Obamacare
Human Events ^ | September 20, 2009 | Brian Darling

President Obama and liberals in Congress seem intent on passing comprehensive health care reform, even though polls suggest it is unpopular with the American people. And despite the potential political risks to moderate Democrats, the President and left-wing leadership in Congress are determined to pass the measure using a rare parliamentary procedure.

Just when you thought the Public Option might be dead, it is not! This has nothing to do with reconciliation.

They are going to attach it to another bill that taxes bonuses for TARP recipients.

They will do this in the dead of night, just like traitorous scum do things.

The left is panicking because they realize they only have about 24 more days to get this done, if ever...

The 2009 Election is just that far away, and if both New Jersey and Virginia change hands, the Dems in Congress in marginal Districts will completely revolt against the radical agenda, to save their own skins....

Since we know about it then it is not a secret. I do not think that this so called secret plan even exists because it is an extremely stupid plan. Besides it is impossible to keep a secret in Congress in particular when hundred of people are involved. Even if this stupid plan exists which I doubt very much, it is not going to pass.

All due respect to the article author but his thinking is a bit convoluted. He is assuming the worst case scenarios as likely and the most likely scenario as unlikely. Look at point 4 , he concedes his little hypothesis falls apart in an unlikely perfect storm. I know Rush lifted this article for his monologue today and frankly it struck me as defeatist and whiny. What people fail to understand is that even the nuclear option is only to get a bill to reconciliation. You still need to vote the reconciled bill as law and that is where it will die. Let's not get hysterical until the final vote is taken, like Cap and Tax where some here were suicidal and now that load of oafel by all the folks in the know on the Hill is dead as a doornail in the Senate.

They would not try this crap on their own people[ Socialists]. They would not try this on muslims.
They will only use this on us.

Why? Not out of love for either group. While they use both groups to further their agenda, they have no love for them. They have no love for us either.

However, they have something for the other two groups that they do not have for us.

And that is? Fear. They know that the second that they tried to pull stuff like this on the other two groups, they would be in the streets breaking things.

As for us, they not only don’t like us, they also do not fear nor respect us. They know with all the hate in their black hearts that we do not have in us to take to the streets. No matter what they do to us or our children.

We all need to keep up the pressure! Keep on writing, e-mailing, calling, etc. If you have any senior citizen family members or friends, encourage them to do the same. Members of Congress know that seniors vote — especially during off-year elections such as 2010.

They may have to, as Snow has said she still doesn’t like the bill even with the changes and wants more, like actual tort reform, helping small businesses come together for health care coverage etc.

After April or so, it’s hard to get anything done in an election year, so they definitely don’t have much time left.

The sad thing is, reform is extremely urgent and needs to be done soon. THe cost of health care over the last 10 years has just skyrocketed.

But, the Dems don’t support true reform.

Great points. Even with a Dem Congress and Senate, there is a tough road ahead, primarily because the plans are so ambitious that it is hard to pass them.

They would have an easier time passing some piecemeal socialism, but they are too stupid (yet) to realize that.

They may figure that out soon, unfortunately.

This is by no means a “Secret Plan.” It has been known for a long time. And it has to do with constitutional requirements. The Senate Health Care Reform plan has a lot of tax revenue related provisions, as well as appropriations and expenditures. Article 1, Section 7 of the United States Constitution states:

All bills for raising Revenue shall originate in the House of Representatives; but the Senate may propose or concur with Amendments as on other Bills.

By the way, in 2008, H.R.1424, the “Emergency Economic Stabilization Act of 2008” was handled the same way. The House Rejected the original TARP bill. So, the Senate came up with the final product. But Constitutionally, the Senate couldn’t originate a revenue measure, so they picked H.R.1424, the "Paul Wellstone Mental Health and Addiction Equity Act," and they proposed the Emergency Economic Stabilization Act legislation as an amendment in the form of a substitute.

This is sleazy practice, but it has gone on for many, many years. They think they have found a way around the Constitution. They think this makes laws like this constitutionally acceptable. It is always wrong, no matter what the courts say. And Senators who vote in favor of this kind of substitution are violating their oath of office.
