There is a watch for Hawaii, but no warning yet. /the earliest a tsunami would hit Hawaii is 1:11 PM HST (a few hours from now).
This was a pretty deep eq, tho.

Wait, does this mean that Obama's Birth Certificate is in danger?

Survivor is filming there. Any talk of a Sunami?”
Are they still filming? I thought they had everything in the ‘can’ before they start the actual show we see.
Anyone got more info?

I’m ignorant about the directions a tsunami might go- wouldn’t this also be a concern for New Zealand and/or Australia?

Just got my National Geographic Wold Map in the mail yesterday and it shows a whole gaggle of populated islands all around Samoa. If there is a big tsunami, and I understand one can move at some 600 miles per hour, most of those islands are already toast.
The 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami was caused by an undersea earthquake with a magnitude of between 9.1 and 9.3, but a 7.9 one I understand is capable of producing a killer wave also.
Prayers for those in its wake—

Yep—that’s a nasty one. When I was stationed in Guam in 1993, we had one measured at 7.8. That was bad enough, thanks.
