President Obama will travel to Copenhagen to make a pitch for Chicago’s Olympic bid, White House officials have confirmed to NBC News.
Obama will leave for Denmark Thursday night, hours after his wife Michelle departs for the vote. The president made the final decision Saturday night after returning from the G20 summit in Pittsburgh.
The announcement ends months of speculation of whether the president would lend his considerable fame to the pitch. The president has dropped hints all month long that he may attend the event.
Last week he sent an advance team to Copenhagen just in case he could make it ...

The IOC has a history of thumbing its nose at the USA - no reason to think otherwise now ...
Clinton wanted the 2000 Olympics - Australia got them ...
Now that the USA has played a BIG hand in putting the world in a financial crisis - I think the IOC will give the finger to Obama ...
The IOC is as much a political body as a sports association - and I think they want to show Obama just how irrelevant the USA has become ...
And they have the perfect CYA justification for it - the Olympics have NEVER been in South America ...
Cynic in me says Ali Bama wouldn't be going if he didn't know the deal is done and he can look like a "glib-tongued persuader" that brought home the bacon.
Besides, the IOC doesn't want to be called racist.
I hope he fails miserably.

That’s not true. I simply said a hurricane once in 30 years or so would not be enough to make me have a meltdown and move from a place that I love. If it was, then I never really loved my state to begin with. Sh*t happens, you deal and move on. Look how many years Florida went without any direct hits. In CA you never know when an earthquake might hit. At least with hurricanes you can evacuate and have warning. Same with tornadoes, there is not much warning. You have days to prepare for hurricanes. Correct prepartion saves your belongings. There is no reason one should lose everything unless they don’t prepare. I take every warning seriously. If it doesn’t come, I put it all back in place and thank God.
Hell would’ve been actually losing my life or sustaining lifelong severe injury in a hurricane, which, I discovered afterward, I just narrowly missed in one.

First of all, check the deaths in FL from hurricanes. How many lost their lives DURING the cat 5 monster named Andrew? What were you doing in the midst of a hurricane? When evacuation warnings go out, we heed them and evacuate.

I lived in a couple of hell holes many years ago. St. Louis was one of them, the other was Indianapolis. I couldn’t wait to get out of both of them. I don’t like cold weather, I don’t like Northern cities or snow. Thank God not everyone feels that way or we wouldn’t be able to breathe down here and our air would be like Chicago’s and other big cities. I like to breathe clean ocean air, not industrial pollution.

Look at it this way: With all due respect and safe wishes to the dozen or so remaining Chicagoans with two brain cells to rub together, if Chicago gets the Olympics and they take a big terrorism hit, potentially many of ostammer’s commie cronies and other assorted commie flotsam and jetsam will be wiped out.
