The history of warfare and the history of disease are unquestionably interwoven. Throughout the history of warfare, disease and non-battle injury have accounted for more deaths and loss of combat capability than from actual battle in war itself. The most striking example is the great influenza pandemic during World War I that killed 20 million people or more worldwide in 1918.1
Although this was a naturally occurring event, what if a country could create a biological agent that could yield the same catastrophic loss of life on the enemy? That, in essence, is the potential effect of applying genetic engineering2 for biological warfare (BW) or bioterrorism (BT).
Today, we face not only natural diseases (including emerging infectious diseases), but also threats of BW or BT, possibly with genetically engineered agents, that may resist known therapies. In simple terms, genetic engineering is the process of human intervention to transfer functional genes (DNA) between two biological organisms.
In the BW/BT context, it is the manipulation of genes to create new pathogenic characteristics (increased survivability, infectivity, virulence, drug resistance, etc). Organisms with altered characteristics are the next generation biological weapons.
In this century, it is widely predicted that advances in biology and biotechnology will revolutionize society and life as we know it. At the same time, the black biology of biotechnology which can be used to create biological weapons, will be one of the gravest threats we will face.
In this era when cloning and designer genes are topics of the evening news, much has been written about biowarfare and bioterrorism resulting from genetically altered microbes, and it is often difficult to discern fact from fiction.

Wow, talk about how the charges of racism will fly if a country creates a weapon that only affects a particular group of people. Of course that nation would have to be willing to sacrifice any members of that ethnic group that might be living in its borders.
The South Africans, the Aum Shinrikyo sect and Saddam Hussein for years were developing a “ethnic weapon”
A loving God would note create mosquitos, chiggers, ticks, disease organisms, or any of the myriad creatures of Pandora’s box. Those things might well be artifacts of just this kind of bio-engineering for bad purposes in past ages.
John Wesley believed such creatures acquired their unpleasant aspects due to their original nature being confounded, when this world and all it’s creatures were changed in the garden, because of the fall of man.
The big problem with this scenario is that the engineered organism might mutate into something that was less discriminatory. Of course, even that might not deter some of the nutjobs out there.
I hate to say this but I have spent some time studying the Left watermelon patch with regards to depopulation ambitions. It is like a study I did on the Left’s race hate and discrimination for power game in the early 90’s.
In summary, I would not put anything past radical environmentalists. They really do look at us like roaches infesting their planey. They despise us.
Remember, the US government rewarded the Japanese scientists who performed live vivisections on American, Russian and Chinese POWs and civilians becasue they wanted all their research in bio-weapons. Look up Unit 731 but do not watch the movie “Philosophy of a Knife” unless you are prepared for real gore.
Thanks. I will look into this. I won’t watch the movie.
The movie makes Hostel and the Saw series look like Spongebob in comparison. There is a great documentary on this 731 and in part 2 I believe that is where they point out that the US government rewarded these scientists as long as they turned over their research notes.

IIRC, there are still strains of Cholera in China that crop up occasionally that were created by Unit 731 almost 70 years ago.
When I suggested The Devil’s Advocate, I was thinking that it is a movie that gets to the basic fall of
Western ethics and morals (and by extension the constitution) brought about by the profession of law.
We have some characters who are Rainbow Six wannabes in the White House.
As for the current Japanese, I hope they have a nuclear option (they do not have one ofcourse, but I am certain it would be very easy and very fast for a nation like Japan to have a working nuclear weapon) because someday China will definitely get back at Japan for the atrocities the Imperial Japanese committed against Chinese civilians. People in that region have very long memories, and the Japanese sure sowed a lot of bad seed that will (someday) sprout and yield a woeful harvest for that nation.
