I went to Catholic high school in Queens with a lot of first generation Polish-Americans and I was at first perplexed when the Polish joke fad started. In my experience, Poles were more like Jews in that they appeared to be a cut above the average intellectually. Physcially, they tended to atheletic, but graviated towards soccer and track rather than football and basketball.
Cant’ argue with a few of them (namely country music and Paris Hilton). Dead wrong on bourbon though, so they can shove it.
I like the Polish people. I can't help it that our so called President is an a$$.
Why take it out on us?????
Poland has been very pro-USA. I wouldn’t give much credence to this author.
I think this translation thing needs some more work....I can’t tell if they like country music or hate it....
Do not chase the oval ball. Soccer, which enjoys a majority of Poles, requires intelligence. And football is a game for bezmózgowców. Do not blindly chase the oval ball like a puppet in the helmets on their heads.
Id like to think that most Poles know that most Americans consider them valued friends and allies.
That was pretty funny. I’ve heard Polish jokes for years (and told a few to Polish relatives) so I find it interesting to see what they throw back at us.
And one reason why you're not: Poland doesn't have the technical know-how, the industrial base, or the military capability to design, build, and maintain their own missile shield.
1. I’m part Polish. Just enough to recognize the attitude. My sense, from my family, and one visit to Poland, is that Poles like things done right and do not suffer fools easily. And they can be blunt. Not ones to hesitate to be judgmental to spare somebody’s feelings. On the other hand, because they value rationality and excellence and hard work, they can produce top-notch things. Also, there is a dry sense of humor, and a confidence about who they are as Poles. And many have a rock-solid consistency in their faith. (Not all. My nephew managed to meet and marry a Polish atheist.)
2. That’s a hilarious translation. “Do not chase the oval ball.”
3. If the Poles are so self-controlled, why do they have explicit porn ads next to their little slide show? My young daughter came up behind me as I was looking at it. Now I’m going to have to find out if she saw the naked woman and do some explaining if she did. Thanks, Poland. Not.
Wow, 9 months in office ans our strongest ally in Eastern Europe - “New Europe” - can’t stand us anymore. Obama sure is a fast worker!
There is a small town in Virginia, not far from Virginia Tech, called Pulaski. It’s named after the Polish Count who came to aid General Washington during our revolution. He was instrumental in forming our cavalry, if memory serves.
The article highlights stereotypes and promotes what the Poles do well. Meh. It wasn’t all that inflammatory to me, since it doesn’t take much effort to refute nearly every claim.
The bit slamming us for our debt to China I can’t argue with. I wish our country didn’t owe anyone a dime.
The World loved hIm for hIs rhetoric - yet, despised hIm for hIs actions.
a very farty people, all that cabbage and all.
they are stinky, dont sit next to them!
I just read this in the comments there. Too funny. I assume something was lost in the translation.
“let us in the ass kiss americas”
