Unless you've been stuck in the Gobi Desert, you've read the headlines about the scandal at ACORN -- the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. Earlier this month, ACORN staffers in four states were caught giving not-so-sage advice to two journalists, posing as a pimp and a prostitute, on how to defraud the government, cheat on taxes and wangle a mortgage for a home-based brothel.
ACORN was once the darling of Democrats for its support of every item on the left-wing wish list. Suddenly, its employees can hardly find a Democrat who will answer their phone calls. When the U.S. Senate voted on Sept. 14 to cut off federal housing dollars for ACORN, the tally was a lopsided 83-7.
ACORN's foibles may seem largely irrelevant here in Minnesota, where the organization has so far been able to keep its nose relatively clean.
But ACORN does have a special place in its heart for at least one prominent Minnesota politician. Last year, it showered praise on Al Franken, endorsing his run for the U.S. Senate. Franken returned the esteem: "I'm thrilled and honored to receive this endorsement," he gushed in a press release. He added that he was "more motivated than ever to work with ACORN."
I'm not suggesting that Franken had any association with the folks behind ACORN's recent scandal. Indeed, when the Senate voted to defund ACORN, he got religion and joined the pack.
It's worth recalling, however, that ACORN is best-known for its massive voter-registration campaigns, which focus relentlessly on getting Democrats elected in targeted states. Here its record is appalling -- and goes to the heart of our democratic electoral system.
In October 2008, ACORN announced triumphantly that it had registered about 1.3 million new voters in 18 battleground states, among them Minnesota.

The worm has really turned on ACORN when the Red Star will print something like this.
Dancing around the obvious...
Do you think there were more than 400 fraudulent Franken votes among the 48,000 new registrations in Minnesota? of course not /s
Is there anything missing from this list? How about bringing teenage girls over here illegally & using them as sex slaves...or does that really not matter when compared to the other crimes?
FReep mail me if you want on/off the list.
ACORN is guilty of election fraud in many states. I don’t know how many false ballots went for ZERO either. He might not really be the winner........
I really don’t think he is the winner, either.
i dont know....dead people seem to like franken..he got the majority of their votes.
Or unless you work for a US TV network and host a well-known morning show.
Love it. ;^D
You have to know that Barry is NOT happy about this. Acorn was instrumental in his election, and their demise will make his reelection more difficult. If only enough Americans wake up, we may be able to save this country yet.
The ones that cheat to win are the losers. I would be so embarrassed to know I could only win through cheating. How can these people actually think they are respected? They aren’t.
When you cheat to win; you are no where near a respected member of Congress.
In reality you are a cheap POS.
They have to ask? Yes ACORN helped the dems win their majority by cheating. Here in Ohio Obama won roughly by the same amount of votes ACORN had shipped in by bus from PA when our lovely Sec Of State Jennifer Brunner allowed same day voting for a week in Nov 2008. I do not believe Obama really won Ohio without the help with voting ACORN provided!
>> He might not really be the winner..
Doesn’t matter. The other guy’s still a loser.
Keep in mind that elected officials are held to a higher legal authority---what is acceptable behavior for citizens might be a crime for elected legislators under oath of office.
Franken may have colluded w/ ACORN to deceive constituents. The FBI should interrogate Franken to determine if ACORN received anything of value to pull off the deception---money, jobs, political cover, to facilitate the deception, and whether they colluded to misuse Congessional influence.

POSSIBLE CHARGES Official acts prohibited, misuse of Congressional funds, abuse of public office, violating oath of office, misuse of government position, abuse of government power; conflict of interest; influence buying; conspiracy to deceive; misuse of elective office, collusion, conspiracy to collude.
Franken's official campaign finance records filed with the FEC, and state election commission, should be scrutinized for possible violations. Determine if Franken's contributors are legit and whether Franken illegally used campaign funds, and whether ACORN gave Franken campaign contributions to influence funding votes.

ACORN comprises a mind-boggling 94 different affiliates, that amounts to "a big shell game," a biting Senate Finance Committee study shows. The study, by the staff of Iowa Republican Charles Grassley, reveals four ACORN charity groups give more than half their revenue to taxable entities that engage in "impermissible lobbying and political activity."
ACORN and its subsidiaries for decades have moved taxpayer money into their own pockets and into the left-wing Marxist machine. These tax-exempt N/P scams need to be shut down pronto.
Sen Charles Grassley's documents show leaders of ACORN community groups transferred several million dollars in charitable and government money -----meant for the poor---- to parts of the group that have political (and sometimes profit-making) missions.
Sen Grassley's documents indicate that ACORN's tax-exempt groups----along with its tangled web of allied organizations---- used more than half their charitable and public money in 2006 to pay other ACORN affiliates.
The IRS has pinpointed N/Ps as the locus classicus for tax evasion and money laundering. The BIGGEST N/P fraud --- a N/P writing checks to another N/P. That's how the "altruistic" siphon off money for other uses, tax-free. Bad enough they launder their own money----in ACORN'S case, this was OUR money.

ACORN's Illegal Activities and Mafia-Style Tactics in Congresss Spotlight
Family Security Matters | March 23, 2009 | Chris Carter
FR Posted 03/27/2009 by Crush
Members of Congress heard testimony against the activist group ACORN on Thursday, exposing the group's illegal activity and mafia-style tactics. Pittsburgh lawyer Heather Heidelbaugh appeared before the a House Judiciary subcommittee alleging that the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) has violated campaign finance and tax laws in addition to their protest-for-hire and coerced donations.
The source of the accusations was from the sworn testimony of ACORN whistleblower Anita MonCrief, who was a clerk for ACORN's sister organization called Project Vote.
MonCrief, a Democrat and Obama supporter, testified last year that Barack Obama's campaign gave Project Vote a "donor list" of people who had contributed the maximum amount allowed by federal law. According to Heidelbaugh's testimony, the donors were to be targeted to donate to ACORN's "Get Out the Vote" efforts and finance voter registration drives.
Heidelbaugh revealed in her testimony that there is virtually no separation between ACORN and Project Vote, as employees working for one group would perform work for the other. (Excerpt) Read more at familysecuritymatters.org ...

ACORN'S VOTER FRAUD 'Go after ACORN,' judge says
Pittsburgh TRIBUNE-REVIEW | Tuesday, June 30, 2009 | Walter F. Roche Jr.
FR Posted by Salena Zito
A district judge who held another ACORN worker for trial Monday on election law violations urged prosecutors to go after the real culprit, the organization that employed him. "Somebody has to go after ACORN," Senior District Judge Richard H. Zoller said about the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now. "It's happening all over the country. All you have to do is turn on the television," the judge said, referring to voter registration fraud charges brought recently against ACORN and its workers in Nevada.
"We will," Allegheny County Detective Robert F. Keenan promised as he wrapped up his testimony. A spokesman for DA Stephen A. Zappala Jr. said following the hearing that the county's investigation into members of ACORN and their activities during the 2008 campaign "remains open and active."
