Next years U.S. Senate race in Ohio is a neck-and-neck battle for Republican Rob Portman no matter which Democratic candidate he faces, according to the first Rasmussen Reports Election 2010 survey in the state.
Portman is in a virtual tie with Lieutenant Governor Lee Fisher 41% to 40%. Six percent (6%) of Ohio voters favor some other candidate, and 14% are undecided.
The former GOP congressman is also essentially even with Ohio Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner, leading by a similarly insignificant 40% to 38% margin. Five percent (5%) prefer another candidate. Eighteen percent (18%) are not sure how they will vote in this race.

Portman has pulled even after trailing for months. The tide is still turning. My only problem is that they didn’t include results from Portman’s primary opponent.
There is another Republican running, auto dealer Tom Ganley. If I lived in Ohio, I’d vote for him.
Is he from the Cleveland area? Now that you mention it, I heard an interview on the radio and liked what I heard.
Ohio would have to be insane to elect Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner as their Governor.
Every time one of these threads comes up I’m going to ask the same question: Is Portman a conservative or rino? Any answer less than conservative, will be a useless vote!
He’s mostly conservative.
I live in Ohio and I've never heard of him.
“Ohio would have to be insane to elect Secretary of State Jennifer Brunner”
Brunner was instrumental in turning this state blue - it could happen.
Portman supports amnesty and sanctuary cities. He’s a RINO. I’m goin with Tom Ganley.
Is she running for governor?
He must be really conservative, because he’s on the DU radar!

This was a suspicious happening at a time when the Demo-controlled government is running up against walls enacting their agenda and seeing record low approval ratings. Expect more of this, especially nearer the elections.
Yes he is from Ohio, and family members know him personally.
Met with Portman the other night. He’s being “lined up behind” because a) he’s conservative, b) he was a very good congressman, c) he’s a decent guy, and d) he can win.
He is vastly more conservative than VOINO. With Sen. Portman, we would have had ANWAR, and no Gang of 14. He is light years better than either of the Dems, and he has the money.
Look, you have to be sticklers about this, if this guy would vote for amnesty, or if there are some things he would side with dems on which would be left wing "causes" he's a rino and you should NOT vote for him. The point I'm making is exactly this, being more conservative than VOINO doesn't say much, if you can't get a committed conservative to run, then you've lost!
We have to show the Repub party we won't vote for any kind of a rino, if you keep voting for them they will run as repubs. We don't want them!
You support whom you want, I'll support whom I want. If you want Jennifer Brunner, go for it.
