WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Democrats have just rejected a GOP amendment that would have required a health overhaul bill to be available online for 72 hours before the committee votes.
Republicans argued that transparency is an Obama administration goal. They also noted that their constituents are demanding that they read bills before voting.
Democrats said it was a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks.
The Democrats say that unlike other committees, the Finance Committee works off conceptual language that describes policies instead of legislative language that ultimately becomes law, and which the GOP amendment would have required. Democrats accepted an alternate amendment to make conceptual language available online before a vote.

BUMP
“How do people who look like this geek EVER get elected? Voters are braindead or the elections are massive frauds... “
Or both.
But I hear you. Besides not voting for it, our people have been next to useless bringing this to the attention of the American people. They should be boycotting Congress - sitting out on the steps making non-stop speeches until the media has to relent and cover them. They should be appearing on every talk show they can worm their way onto and telling the truth about the Socialist pigs who are taking over our Government.
Voting “No” and then going home to their mansions, barbecues and boats ISN’T the answer.
This is one of those seemingly minor Congressional actions that is actually VERY significant. Just NOW on Fox, Rep. John Boehner (R), House Minority Leader, was talking about how he could not believe the Democrats defeated this Amendment in the Senate. Boehner added that in the House, there's a group of Democrats and Republicans who are working together on a “Discharge Petition” to REQUIRE Nancy Pelosi to have a minimum 72-hour layover for any major spending Bill — for review by the American people. This would include ObamaCare. PLEASE spread the word that Congress — once again — is trying to RUSH the passage ObamaCare in the dark of night, just like they've done with other Bills. DID they NOT hear us loud and clear at the Town Halls? Contact the Senate and have the Amendment, which failed yesterday by a vote of 12-11, to be re-introduced for passage in the Senate Finance Committee. One Democrat voted with the Republicans — we need ONE MORE. Also, with the House, please contact your Representative to support Boehner's "Discharge Petition" so ANY Health Care Bill or large spending Bill will be available on the internet for public review at least 72 hours prior to a House vote. |
Boy, that list just keeps getting more and more persuasive! How can we resist the lure of the Dark Side???
Answer: Open your eyes! Use your head! And remember what Mom said - “if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!”
CA....
Sorry to repeat myself but NO tyrants do not listen to or care what the ruled think or feel.
It’s why we call them tyrants.
“A people unwilling to use extreme violent force to secure or obtain their liberty deserves the tyrants that rule them.” Jefferson
Evil doers love the darkness
because their deeds are evil.
The goal is to make sure the 2010 election is not free and fair.A stacked deck so to speak. This is the Junta's true goal, ,the bogus legislation along the way is only window dressing for what is planned by the Obama Junta, yet to come.
To the Junta I have this to say, or rather from the month of Thomas Jefferson:
“A people unwilling to use extreme violent force to obtain or preserve their liberty deserves the tyrants that rule them.”
Via la’ revolution!
Or as the Beatles said “Don’t you know you can count me out, in”
Sorry to repeat myself but NO tyrants do not listen to or care what the ruled think or feel. They fear us more than they let us believe. They seize on our SILENCE and revel in their SECRECY ... I will not be COMPLICIT with their corrupt Progressive agenda by doing NOTHING to fight it. Neither should anyone else who believes in conservatism. |
It appears we're at or close to the point of decision time, maybe even past.
It appears so. He also said:
“When people fear the government you have tyranny, when the government fears the people you have liberty.”

We can actually vote these people out.
Another good quote from Jefferson, though not exactly in line with what we're discussing, is still relevant.
"I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them."
I dunno, it's going to be interesting...
I also like this one, “People who beat their guns into plows will plow for those who don’t.”
Arkansas Democrat Sen. Blanche Lincoln voted with the Republicans.
There are two reasons the bill needs to be released in legislative language 72 hours before the vote. The first, the people’s right to know, has already been covered.
The second is to allow the CBO to analyze the bill and determine the cost. I doubt they can do that accurately based on ‘conceptual language’.
As transparent as a foggy swamp.
OTOH, the uproar over these Nazi tactics results in more people becoming aware of the details of this feces sandwich than may have been the case.
