WASHINGTON - Senate Finance Committee Democrats have just rejected a GOP amendment that would have required a health overhaul bill to be available online for 72 hours before the committee votes.
Republicans argued that transparency is an Obama administration goal. They also noted that their constituents are demanding that they read bills before voting.
Democrats said it was a delay tactic that could have postponed a vote for weeks.
The Democrats say that unlike other committees, the Finance Committee works off conceptual language that describes policies — instead of legislative language that ultimately becomes law, and which the GOP amendment would have required. Democrats accepted an alternate amendment to make conceptual language available online before a vote.

I mean the Finance Committee could vote for black, then put out legalese that says white, and that would be A-OK.

As we've already seen with the Stimulus Bills and Cap & Trade, Senators DO NOT read the Bills they pass — especially the 1000-plus page Bills — WE DO. And that's what scares them. Senator Kerry — who served in Vietnam — said today that they don't want to post the Bill and its revisions online because it is too complex and uses too much legalese. WTF? It's OBVIOUS — they want the American people to have as LITTLE TIME AS POSSIBLE to review the Bill out of the Senate before they pass it. Gosh — I wonder why... I expect no different from the House when they get the Bill back from the Senate for review — Pelosi will push to use the Dem majority in the Committees to change internal procedural rules, too, to minimize review time of the 1000-page ObamaCare Bill by the American people. That's why we have to put our big foot down and say, "NO, you don't!" |

of the law is no excuse” is NOT in effect when a law is not published
in full with public access at least five business days before the
final vote.
This act of the perfidious Democrats tell you all you need to know.
They are AFRAID of having their clap-trap legislation debated.
Or even letting this Frankenstein of a bill see the light of day
before they get it passed via “the nuclear option” of reconciliation.
Theoretically, yes. But the full Senate would be voting on the white legalese, and if they pass it, then it will have to go to the House and be debated there. And the House might not like the white version. And before you know it, the thing’s chartreuse.

This affects nearly 20% of our economy. It affects us in a very personal way, as well as our family members.If we don’t fight and win on this one, the republic is lost I fear.
If they pass it, the real fight begins.
This is actually kind of fitting, since the people who voted for Obammie the Commie didn’t vote for any detailed plan, just a conceptual politician.
I hope they enjoy being conceptually used and conceptually misled. Those details that actually comprise the law can be pesky things.

Today, Senate Democrats in the Finance Committee rejected a
Republican move to require that the full text of the Baucus
government-controlled healthcare bill be posted for 72 hours
prior to a vote.
Democrats are fast-tracking the bill through committee,
insisting that Senators vote on the bill WITHOUT seeing
the actual language of the legislation.
In fact, Democrats were making their point by mocking those who
wanted to actually READ the bill before voting!
Sen. Kerry said, “Legislative language is relatively
arcane, very legalistic, and most people don’t read the
legislative language.”
THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS!
Especially since it is clear that ObamaCare is really nothing
more than a cover for a massive takeover of huge sectors of our
economy that transfers power to the Obama Administration!

This is unconstitutional. IF the law doesn’t matter anymore, then nothing they pass matters either. The several states MUST reel in federal power.
