Cap-and-trade energy tax legislation appears stalled, at least for now, in the U.S. Senate. But that doesnt mean the cap-and-trade energy tax isnt imminent.
Senate Environment Committee Chairwoman Barbara Boxer hasnt even introduced the bill yet; new Senate Agriculture Committee Chairwoman Blanche Lincoln has declared the House bill dead on arrival; and there are several other cross-cutting controversies that divide Democrats on the bill. The Obama administration is unfazed. They are moving full steam ahead with an even more costly regulatory scheme in the name of global warmingshoehorning the regulation of greenhouse gases into the 1970 Clean Air Act, a bill passed before anyone had ever thought of global warming and that couldnt be less suited to the task.
Driving the push for this massive power grab and circumvention of the elected branches is a key White House official who avoided Senate confirmation by being installed not as EPA director, but instead as White House Climate Czar: Carol Browner.
Long before the Supreme Court ruled in a highly questionable 2007 case, Massachusetts v. EPA, that the EPA has the legal authority to justify its proposed 18,000 pages of greenhouse gas regulation under the Clean Air Act, Browner (then EPA director under President Bill Clinton) had her general counsel, Jonathan Cannon, prepare a now-infamous memorandum arguingfor the first timethat the EPA possessed such a power. At the time it was dismissed as a wild-eyed overreach that Congress would never allow. Now its happening, and Browner is right at the center of it.

Can this adminsitration get any sleazier? What a curse has befallen this country!
He has apparently studied the fall of the Weimar Republic and the collapse of the Roman Republic.
He is apparently bent upon something never foreseen by the Founding Fathers - governing by extra-constitutional means.
Several of the preceding Presidents have done this in small increments, but from tiny ACORNS, a malignant growth can appear when unsupervised by a vigilant public.
This is actually waaaaay more important than what is going on in NY at the UN, imho.
If you haven’t done it yet, I would encourage everyone to read Michelle Malkin’s “Culture of Corruption”. Its unreal how evil this government is.
>We put nothing in writing, ever, Nichols said.
That way there’s no legal wrangling over what the “contract” is... you simply get to redefine it as you go along to suit your needs. This reminds me of the response Obama gave to a definition from the dictionary.
BLOAT, people, BLOAT!
Barack Obama will be needing to kill a lot of us soon. The revolt — outright revolution — is very imminent.
If it is ever proved that Mr. Obama is a naturalized citizen, and not a natural born one, and he refuses to vacate office, I would hope the American military would emulate Honduras’.
Mark Lloyd Diversity Czar:
“There’s nothing more difficult than this because we have really truly, good, white people in important positions, and the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions,” he said.
“And unless we are conscious of the need to have more people of color, gays, other people in those positions, we will not change the problem. But we’re in a position where you have to say who is going to step down so someone else can have power.”
White people are in the cross hairs, they are the target. Will Whites stand and get shot or fight back?
Overturn Wickard v Filburn.
The Stalinist mentality in the far left is just astounding. They want to control everyone, regulate everything, dictate how we live our lives, and make all decisions regardless of the will of the people and our elected representatives. They think they’re smarter and more knowledgeable than conservatives, when ironically the opposite is true. These extreme leftists have no ability to objectively analyze an issue life global warming theory and no interest in objective analysis. All they want to do is force their warped view of the issues on everyone whether we agree or not. The GOP needs to make a major push on this theme of autocratic dictatorial behavior by the far left (including Pelosi, Reid, Waxman, and Boxer), and push hard to retake control of the House in 2010.
Exactly!
I hope the next interim election in the US send the signal to these people that Americans have had enough of this rail road approach to ‘change’.
Actually, if the changes you want are so noxious, radical, demonstrably inconsistent with the Constitution and alien to American sensibilities that you have to literally FORCE them on fully 50% of the population... isn’t it time to rethink?
Just a logical question I have about the unparalleled and furtive subterfuge which is passing for a Presidential Administration right now. There is something VERY wrong with this picture.
Sadly, it isn't a curse that befell this country. I was loony, brain dead leftists, and the conservatives sitting out the election that gave us the dark days that are upon us. God help us.
How to circumvent the proxcess in three easy steps. These people need to be brought up on hcarges. Impeachment proceedings some time next year.
I keep hoping that the crazier and farther left this Admin pushes, the center will move right. Our corrupt politicians can’t possibly like the idea of a single buddy of the Pres having all that money and power....it makes lobbyists coming to them for favors all but a waste.
Gen Petreaus:....lead by example as demonstrated elsewhere...
