Last month, National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Rocco Landesman said that, in American politics, the arts are a little bit of a target. The subtext is that it is elitist, left wing, maybe even a little gay.
Well, the NEA has certainly earned that reputation these past few weeks. Just like the LGBT community, the NEA which purports to help struggling artists of all kinds - is following in lockstep with The One, regardless of whether its good for artistic expression, free speech, or real people.
Last fall, I was amazed at how many folks in the gay community let themselves believe that getting Obama elected would be the magical first step towards achieving equality at least in terms of appropriating the word marriage - despite the fact that He had already stated clearly that He is against gay marriage.
And no one seemed to care (much less recall) that, in 2007, The One had told CNN that building a consensus for gay marriage would be difficult and distracting you know, like the Iraq war? (Or gnats.)
Then, earlier this summer, just as many of His supporters in the LGBT tribe were growing restless with His neglect, it only took one White House cocktail party to get them eating right out of His palm again. Sigh. Gays and lesbians werent always such docile lambs. But like many Americans, they have become lazy and apathetic - insulated by several generations of distance from any serious strife in their comfortable lives (sad but true, AIDS and 9/11 have largely gone MIA on the popular radar).
Now, thanks to the conscience of Patrick Courrielche, we see that same malaise has infected the artistic community as well (while energizing a few sycophants in positions of power).

I would like to see all funding to the NEA halted until a full investigation of its activities is complete.
So, we should start saying “That’s so NEA”? (or will that also offend Wanda Sykes)
I would like to see all funding to the NEA halted permanently as it’s an unconstitutional expenditure of public funds, not authorized in Article I Section 8.
A Little Gay?
You mean, like a dwarf interior decorator?
....weren’t the NEA funded artists the ones that gave us such noble works as “Piss Christ” and a photographic portrait of a queer with a bull whip shoved up his rectum?
Me too, but who will investigate. The NEA is in the back pocket of King Obama and he will never allow an investigation. We are now under a communists/dictator and not much hope.
Hmm. I sure wasn’t aware that art was the property of any political party. Guess I can’t be a real artist, then.
The NEA is the same as ACORN. It is controlled by radical leftists. It takes its member’s dues to support the Democratic Party and the advancement of the homosexual agenda.
Lke ACORN it is an ongoing criminal organization. The scary thing about it and ACORN is that when we had a Republican administration nothing was done to address any issues connected with these slimy criminals.
yep.
I don't believe for one minute that Obama is against homosexual marriage, no matter what he says. He knows that it will eventually be challenged all the way to the Supremes, and he's going to try his best to get as many liberals back on the court as he possibly can, so he can set the stage for another society changing decision like Roe v. Wade.
Academic artists handing taxpayer money around to one another. It all circulates in one fairly smallish group.
Yep, they’re taking it up the ...
Yosi Sergant wearing "Obama is my Home Boy" shirt with a "GAY" rainbow pin...
Not that theres anything wrong with that..
You mean, like a dwarf interior decorator?

More like a dwarf interior dick-orator.
LLS
For some reason when I see Obama and that guy like that, this song starts playing in my head:
“Do a little dance,
Make a little love,
get down tonight...”
Perhaps if REAL artists had to make their own way, on their own MERIT, base on real TALENT - in stark contrast to the faux “artists” making “art” out of disease-laden bodily waste excretions - they would be able to support themselves without subsidization.
