There were substantive differences, but the similarities between “RomneyCare” and the proposed HR 3200 are enough reason to find fault with both.
Gov. Romney is starting to wear me out with this. I think it’s accurate to say that his version of Government Health Care is about as good as could be expected from Government Health Care - that is, it’s very, very bad.
Romney’s idea of opening up insurance markets, reducing mandates, and offering public assistance for low income people had some merit. (I didn’t like it, but I was willing to see how it worked out)
It now serves as an outstanding example of why even the best intentioned Government Health Care will fail. Within 2 years it became saturated with patronage positions, obscene red tape, and endless additional mandates placed on Insurance companies by the Mass. legislature.
Time to give this one up Gov. Romney !

This is the end of Romney. If he had come out and said government, even at the state level, cannot do this, I think he would have had a shot. But he can’t see it. Or can’t admit it.
I don’t think for one minute that Romney hates America the way that Obozo does, but he has a sense of omnipotence and that is a bad thing.
As awful as Obama is, I don’t see much hope for a viable Republican candidate in 2012. Here’s hoping that Obama defeats himself.
